Today is Halloween, so naturally, many Americans are thinking about their favorite spooks and monsters. But while we won’t run into Count Dracula, the Loch Ness monster, or the Headless Horseman on our streets, we might run into people who are real-life political, economic, and societal vampires thanks to the Democrat Party’s illegal immigration policies.
In Bram Stoker’s classic novel Dracula, the vampire count is moving to England as he and his vampire brides have terrorized their area for so long that they have comparatively few people left on whom to prey. Moving to London is a practical concern for the count, a decision based on the desire to live in a great metropolis full of victims, on whom he could prey for many years without ever running out of targets. There are criminals in the real world who moved to America for the same reason. And the reality is much more deadly and terrifying than any legend.
As of the start of 2024, the annual cost to American taxpayers for illegal aliens was $150.7 billion. Since Donald Trump took office, that has probably gone down somewhat, since he managed to remove around 2 million illegal aliens from the country (though many of them took taxpayer-funded bonuses from the government to self-deport).
But many Democrat cities and states continue to pay for the housing, food, healthcare, and more for illegal aliens. Even at the federal level, we are still apparently funding them, including through SNAP, as at least 3.67 million illegal aliens and dependent minors received food stamp benefits in 2022, according to the Economic Policy Innovation Center. Outlets indicated well over a million of these people are still receiving food stamps (when there isn’t a shutdown).
Then there is the massive wave of illegal alien crime that has been plaguing America for years, but particularly in the last several years. Rapes, murders, thefts, assaults, trafficking, drug crimes, and more have occurred continually thanks to the illegal aliens brought in and protected by Democrats, with quite a few of the criminals released over and over to commit a whole series of crimes.

Laken Riley, Jocelyn Nungaray, Travis Wolfe, Nate Baker, Rachel Morin, Larisha Thompson, David Lee, Ivory Smith, and Kayla Hamilton are just a few victims of illegal alien killers. Baker’s killer was previously ordered deported, and Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) referred to Hamilton as a “random dead person.” Within the last few months, there were two separate incidents of illegal alien truck drivers from India causing deadly mass casualty crashes. And ICE just finally arrested an illegal alien who committed 19 different crimes, but was released despite federal requests to the contrary by woke authorities in Fairfax County, Virginia.
One might quote Mr. Tilney in the 2007 movie adaptation of Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey, who, after teasing Catherine Morland with an invented ghost story, admits to her with his late and much-tried mother in mind, “There is a kind of vampirism.” There are myths in almost every culture about vampire-like creatures who suck the blood or souls or joy out of humans, from the Soul Eaters of Nigeria and China to the Adze of Togo and Ghana to the Soucouyant of the Caribbean to the Gumiho of Korea to the Mares of Slavic and Teutonic cultures. That is because there are human leeches in every nation and people, those who only take and never give back. That includes millions of illegal aliens.
