Communist China is a full-on censorship tyranny. But Great Britain is pushing hard to catch up.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has a highly developed censorship and surveillance apparatus that enables the government to crush protests online and in public quickly and brutally. But while Britain’s government has not reached the level of the genocidal CCP, it appears to be taking the CCP for its model.
The horrifying scope and power of the CCP digital ID/surveillance/censorship complex became apparent during the COVID-19 lockdowns, when the CCP was able to shut down many protestors’ lives by simply turning their digital QR code (necessary for purchases and travel) red. The CCP backed up the digital ID and social media censorship with arrests and forced disappearances.
Now there’s a new report from the New Federal State of China (NFSC), the pro-freedom Chinese dissidents whose leader Miles Guo was locked up under Joe Biden. The NFSC reported, “Over 1,200 influencers have been erased for ‘pessimism,’ and a new law restricts the rest from discussing finance or health.” It is all jargon to cover up the fact that the CCP is cracking down on any political or cultural dissidents, even as economic and political crises grow worse and worse in China.

Now let’s turn to Britain, which is in the process of implementing a mandatory digital ID system that seems suspiciously similar to the one China has. Britain is not as far advanced in tyranny as China, so, for instance, Irish comedy writer Graham Linehan managed to get the charges against him dropped after English authorities arrested him for transgender-critical posts. But just the fact that Linehan was arrested at Heathrow Airport for affirming biological fact, or that a Jewish lawyer was put in handcuffs for wearing a Star of David while challenging illegal activities of pro-Hamas protestors, speaks to a profound Orwellian transformation.
Indeed, data recently obtained by the UK Daily Mail exposes how immense the censorship apparatus has become in Britain, especially when compared to UK police activity targeting actual crimes, as I wrote:
Victim-based crimes include robbery, sexual offenses, violence, theft, and arson. Less than 10% of such crimes last year resulted in a charge in the UK, indicating that police have essentially given up on prosecuting crimes such as sexual assault. Especially, of course, if the culprits happen to be Muslims…
The UK Daily Mail reported “shocking numbers” this month after obtaining data from 39 out of the 45 police jurisdictions in the United Kingdom. In 2024 alone, there were 9,700 arrests for social media posts in those 39 jurisdictions, while there were 13,800 arrests for the same reason in the previous year.
How unsettling that a once-free Western nation should be turning into a communist dictatorship at a rapid pace.
