Winston Churchill, the prime minister who brought England (and its Allies) through the crisis of WWII, once stated that having enemies is a testament to one’s character. Indeed, it is often true that the more one does for the good, the more one will create enemies among evil people.
We can assess a man based not only on his friends but also on his enemies. As Churchill, the anniversary of whose 1965 death was this past week, once sagely and wittily said, “You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.”
Take Donald Trump. We have had criminals, traitors, and perverts in positions of power in America for hundreds of years, and it is particularly bad now, as Joe Biden was a prime example of this political corruption. But whom did the weaponized legal system go after? Trump. They couldn’t legitimately make any of the charges stick, but they wasted millions of taxpayer dollars and massive amounts of time and effort trying. They did this not because he was a dangerous criminal, but precisely because he was the man who could defeat the Democrat Party and the Deep State. They were afraid of him, not because he was a criminal, but because they were criminals.
Likewise with the Jan. 6ers. The system was completely rigged against them from the first, and now even having been pardoned some dozen of them are still being held in jail. There were also a number of peaceful pro-lifers who were jailed by the Biden administration and freed by Trump.

Meanwhile, there are over 660,000 illegal alien criminals in America, with more coming in all the time under the Biden-Harris regime, and billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars being sent overseas to fund Islamic jihadis in Afghanistan, Gaza, and elsewhere. The J6ers and the pro-lifers were jailed not because they were “domestic terrorists,” but because they represented movements and beliefs which are opposed to the evil ideology of the Deep State. These political prisoners of the Biden administration have enemies because they stood up for something.

There are of course many groups and movements that have gained enemies just by speaking truths that corrupt leftists don’t want to hear. The pro-lifers face the bloodthirsty death cult of abortion. The advocates for children face the extreme perversion of the groomer transgender ideologues. Jewish people and all supporters of Israel face the genocidal mania of Islamists and pro-Hamas rioters. Christians and Jews face the blasphemous hatred of “progressive” Marxists. Citizens who prioritize national and international security have to contend with the blinded socialists who are bought off by our foreign enemies and who bring in ever more criminal illegal aliens. Meritocrats find their pursuit of excellence undermined by DEI- and CRT-obsessed leftists. The list could go on and on.
Yes, it is important to assess your life and the lives of others based on friendships, but also based on what enemies you and others have made. Are there pro-death, Marxist, anti-American, pro-jihadi, anti-Semitic radicals who hate you? Do you have enemies who are trying to destroy you and everything you stand for? Good; that means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.
