Democrats live in a Wonderland much crazier — and creepier — than the one Alice found when she fell down the rabbit hole. The characters Alice met when she went through the looking glass had reality backward, and that very much describes leftists who believe or pretend to believe that a person can alter his biological sex and that there are dozens of “genders.”
House Republicans just passed the Protection of Women and Girls Sports Act, which bans biological males in women’s sports at schools that receive federal funding. This was no thanks to the Democrats, 206 of whom voted against the legislation. The Democrat Party is so dedicated to the inanity of transgenderism that they could not bring themselves to vote for basic women’s rights.
“Trans” athletes injure their female teammates and competitors, and according to SheWon.org, at least 766 women have been deprived of 1088 medals, scholarships, and other awards by biological males. Furthermore, transgender “treatments” and surgeries leave young people mutilated and depressed. The majority of LGBTQ youth suffer from depression and even suicidal ideation. From every perspective, transgenderism is a lose-lose ideology.

It is also a fantasy. In his “Through the Looking-Glass,” the sequel to “Alice in Wonderland,” Lewis Carroll describes what happens when the White Queen asks Alice how old she is:
“I’m seven and a half exactly.”
“You needn’t say ‘exactually,’” the Queen remarked: “I can believe it without that. Now I’ll give you something to believe. I’m just one hundred and one, five months and a day.”
“I can’t believe that!” said Alice.
“Can’t you?” the Queen said in a pitying tone. “Try again: draw a long breath, and shut your eyes.”
Alice laughed. “There’s no use trying,” she said: “one can’t believe impossible things.”
“I daresay you haven’t had much practice,” said the Queen. “When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."
The average Democrat has the Queen beat all hollow — they believe at least ten impossible things before getting out of bed, including the preposterous fiction of transgenderism. It is impossible to alter one’s biological sex, and the idea that there are dozens of genders is laughable. There is no such thing as “non-binary” or “vampself” or “systemgender” or “agenderflux.”

But the silliness of transgenderism, unlike the humorous silliness of Carroll’s Looking Glass, can do a great deal of harm. It leaves mutilated bodies, broken hearts, damaged lives, and minds incapable of facing reality in its wake. The Democrats who voted against the Protection of Women and Girls Sports Act are on the wrong side of history, and even if they don’t have to answer for their evil ideology in this life, they certainly will have to do so in the next.
