While leftists would love to convince you that climate change (somehow fixable by more taxes and regulations) is the only reason hurricanes are coming ashore and killing Americans, the reality is that climate alarmism is much more dangerous. Exhibit A: electric vehicle batteries.
Climate alarmists are perpetual hypocrites, claiming to want to save the planet even while endangering humans, and asserting a desire for protecting the environment even while encouraging toxic energy sources. EV batteries are not only very toxic both to mine materials for and to manufacture (not to mention involving slave labor in Africa and China), they are also prone to explode. And ahead of Hurricane Milton, that is exactly what Florida’s fire marshal warned that Floridians’ EVs could do.
It turns out the unscientific myth of climate change and “green” EVs could put Floridians at risk in a hurricane. Chief Financial Officer and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis warned in an Oct. 7 press release that there’s a major fire hazard involving lithium-ion batteries, EVs, and hybrid and fuel cell vehicles. “As Hurricane Milton approaches, I am calling on EV manufacture[r]s across the country to take pro-active measures by notifying customers in storm surge areas to relocate their vehicles. As I’ve stated before, these compromised vehicles and devices are ticking time bombs,” Patronis said.

The press release highlighted multiple products with lithium-ion batteries that could present fire hazards, including cars, scooters, golf carts, hoverboards, and even kids’ toys. Patronis has good reason to worry, since the press release announced his division had confirmed “48 lithium-ion battery fires related to storm surge from Hurricane Helene, with 11 of those fires associated with EVs.”
EVs are expensive, unreliable, and explosive. Not exactly an ideal buy. And again, there is no climate crisis, so there is no need to drive an EV to save the planet (not to mention EVs’ massive manufacturing and disposal toxic waste problem). The main point is, of course, that “climate change” is not the main threat — climate alarmist propaganda is.
Woke climate liars want you to give up eating meat, even though red meat provides essential nutrients. They tell you to stop driving cars or at least to drive only hazardous EVs, while they travel in private jets. Big Tech censors the truth about climate alarmism and claims to be virtuous for doing so. You and I are supposed to give the government yet more money for the privilege of being told to sacrifice our comforts, our rights, our gas stoves and cars and steaks, none of which the elites plan to give up. “Green” energy wrecks both the environment and the energy grid, but we are told if we don’t want solar panels we’re supposedly evil “denialists.”
We should pray that no one is hurt in a lithium-ion battery fire during Hurricane Milton, which is dangerous enough without burning EVs added to the mix. And we should also take this as a reminder to reject the climate lies from John Kerry, Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Antonio Guterres, Bill Gates, George Soros, Elon Musk, and all the other elites who make money and gain power off selling us dangerous and disastrous “green” products.
