A certain level of civility used to be taken for granted in American politics. However bitter disagreements grew, and however heated campaign rhetoric became, both sides took for granted that the opposition was made up of people who wanted what was best for our country, but simply had a different idea of what that meant.
That mutual respect is now largely a thing of the past, thanks to the left’s habit of seeing the reincarnation of Hitler in every successive Republican president since Ronald Reagan, and in its continuing hysteria over every move President Donald Trump makes, no matter how inoffensive or even trivial. The left has now poisoned the American public discourse to the point where people talk seriously about the possibility of a new civil war, and speak openly about wanting to see their political opponents murdered, all the while continuing to assume that they occupy the moral high ground.
The latest leftist to issue a more or less veiled call for the elimination of the man whom the enlightened and tolerant folks hate most of all was failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who may (who knows?) be trying with her incendiary rhetoric to gather the forces of hate behind her for one more try for the big prize in 2028.
On Saturday, Hillary posted on X a video of a public conversation she had on Nov. 18 with Heather Cox Richardson, a historian, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, an actor, entitled "History Has its Eyes on Us." Appearing indifferent to the fact that history might have an eye on her for purveying incendiary rhetoric during a volatile time, Hillary wrote: “When a fire announcement interrupts the event... you might find yourself daydreaming about a ‘Goodbye Trump.’”

In the video, Hillary said: "You know what this reminds me of, is that I wish that there could be like a huge national sound system. And, we would all wake up, and they'd say 'Attention, attention. We have found the problem, and we have solved it, he is gone.'" Everyone knew she was talking about Trump, and applauded this enthusiastically.
“Gone,” of course, is a word with two meanings. She could have meant simply that she daydreams of the day when Trump is no longer president of the United States, but Hillary knows as well as every other English speaker that “gone” is also a common way of referring to someone who has died.
Rather than hasten to correct the impression that she was dreaming about Trump being dead, the architect of the Benghazi debacle reinforced it, saying: "But the reason we're here tonight is to remind all of us, including ourselves, that that can't happen unless we make it happen.”
Now, wait a minute. Trump is ineligible to run for president again in 2028, as he himself has acknowledged after having some fun driving the Democrats crazy with talk of a third term. So there is actually no way for the American people to force Trump to be “gone.” Leftists can clamor for impeachment, but Democrat legislators need no prodding to go that route; if Democrats recapture the House in 2026, nothing is more certain than the fact that Trump will be impeached for a third time.
In light of that, what does Hillary mean by saying that Trump won’t be “gone” “unless we make it happen”? Is she referring to someone else trying to murder him? If she didn’t mean that, once again, she made no attempt to clarify her words and assure her audience of her commitment to the rule of law and the orderly transfer of power. Instead, she let the hint of a call for violence hang out there, just in case another deranged leftist might want to take matters into his own hands.

Leftists have been increasingly open of late about their thirst for the blood of patriots. Even the leftist husband of a New Jersey school board member felt free to threaten to murder a patriotic member of the same school board. And the incoming attorney general of Virginia was recently revealed to have written that he wished a House Republican colleague would get “two bullets to the head,” and that the same colleague’s wife would watch their child die in her arms, for “only when people feel pain personally do they move on policy.” Democrats stood by him, and he won his election.
A Texas state representative, Jolanda Jones (D-Of Course), recently threatened on CNN: "If you hit me in my face, I'm not going to punch you back in your face. I'm going to go across your neck," accompanying her bellicose words by “making a slashing motion across her neck.” Jones added: "We can go back-and-forth, fighting each other's faces. You've got to hit hard enough where they won't come back."
The list is long. Far-left Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker said back in April: “Never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption — but I am now”? Note that Pritzker didn’t just call for protests, but for “mobilization” and “disruption.” And Rep. Kweisi Mfume (D-Race Resentment) said in February: “This will be a congressional fight, a constitutional fight, a legal fight, and on days like this a street fight, yes we will stand.” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-Sombrero) also said this of the “extreme MAGA Republican agenda”: “We are going to fight it legislatively. We are going to fight it in the courts. We’re going to fight it in the streets.”
Now Hillary appears to have signed up for that street fight. Patriots should be watchful and prepared as all this hateful rhetoric from the left has its intended effect.
