The Biden regime’s betrayal of Israel at the UN on Monday has been in the offing for a long time. One of the last indications of what was coming came the night before the vote, when ABC News aired an interview with ostensible Vice President Kamala Harris, in which the thoughtful and scholarly second-ranking officer of the republic issued a not-so-veiled threat against what up until recently was our foremost ally in the Middle East, Israel.
ABC reported Sunday that our nation’s foremost Venn Diagram fan “suggested there could be ‘consequences’ for Israel if it moves ahead with a planned invasion of Rafah in its pursuit of Hamas fighters.”
Now wait a minute. Since when do allies threaten allies with “consequences” for defending themselves? That ought to be language Harris and her sharp-as-a-tack no-dementia-here boss, Old Joe Biden, are using not against Israel, but toward the Islamic Republic of Iran. After all, Iran’s Supreme Leader, the Ayatollah Khamenei, explained last November that “the situation between America and Iran is this: When you chant ‘Death to America!’ it is not just a slogan – it is a policy.”
A deeply hostile nation that considers “Death to America” to be a policy statement, and what does the regime of Old Joe and Kamala do? They give it $10 billion, even while it is financing Hamas’ jihad against Israel.
Against a loyal ally, however, it’s a vastly different story. As Stephen Green noted Monday, “Harris warned that Israel would cross a ‘red line’ if the IDF moved into Rafah in the Gaza Strip. ‘We have been clear in multiple conversations and in every way that any major military operation in Rafah would be a huge mistake... I have studied the maps. There’s nowhere for those folks to go.’”
Wait, it gets worse: ABC’s Rachel Scott “pressed the vice president, asking if America would consider ‘consequences’ if Netanyahu went forward — something he said he was willing to do despite the opposition.” Harris replied: “Well, we’re going to take it one step at a time, but we’ve been very clear in terms of our perspective on whether or not that should happen.” Scott wasn’t willing to let the matter lie, and followed up with a more pointed question: “Are you ruling out that there would be consequences from the United States?” To that, Harris responded: “I am ruling out nothing.”
What consequences might ensue if Israel, determined to destroy Hamas utterly and knowing that Rafah is its last remaining key stronghold in Gaza, dares to enter the city despite Harris’ warning? One immediate consequence would likely be that the Biden regime would stop arms sales to Israel, leaving it short of the weaponry it would need to confront the last redoubt of Hamas in Rafah.
Economic sanctions would likely follow after that. Sanctions would be a supreme irony, for the Trump administration nearly succeeded in bringing the Islamic Republic of Iran to its knees by means of sanctions, only for Old Joe and his henchmen to save the day for the mullahs even as they warred against their own people, by rolling the sanctions back and sending a few billion to Tehran.
After that, who knows? It seems inconceivable that the United States of America would ever send troops to confront Israel and stop the IDF in its tracks, but nowadays, so very much of what we thought we could count on has been swept away, and even this cannot be dismissed out of hand. If Israel still insists on defending itself even in the face of betrayal and sanctions from Washington, American troops on the ground to protect Hamas would be the next logical step.

Absurd? Sure. But what isn’t absurd about the Biden regime? Is there a single issue on which the regime has done the right thing and protected the interests of the American people and of our allies? Old Joe Biden, being a couple gazillion years old, represents on the one hand the last gasp of the political class that has ruled this nation and run it into the ground since the mid-1980s. On the other hand, however, he represents something altogether new, and sinister: an authoritarian regime that is determined to crush dissent and transform loyal opposition into a criminal offense.
Overstated? I wish it were. Yet there has not only been the ongoing legal persecution of Donald Trump, but also the Disinformation Governance Board that would have policed speech that dissented from the leftist establishment’s perspective. The regime sicced the FBI on angry parents protesting at school board meetings, worked with Twitter and other social media giants to silence and deplatform people with opposing views, and even sent spies into Catholic churches.
What’s coming next? God only knows, but one thing is certain: the Biden regime has “consequences” in store not just for Israel, but for the American people.
