The first election round in Brazil and popular reactions to failed housing measures in Spain have demonstrated that voters in both countries are completely fed up with the failures of elitist socialist leaders.
Yes, many, if not most, Western politicians (including Americans) now operate as if they were aristocrats without any accountability, and some of them get away with it indefinitely. But every once in a while, the politicians get a brutal reminder that they still have to appeal to voters — and that they and their policies are not remotely appealing. No wonder so many socialist politicians try to use election fraud.
My colleague Sarah Anderson has already written a much longer analysis of what happened in Brazil over the weekend with the first round of elections that ended with Flávio Bolsonaro coming in a couple of points ahead of socialist dictator Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Now, I’m sure Lula is not going to surrender power easily, because socialist dictators never do. Don’t be surprised if he pulls some election fraud and declares himself the victor by the end of this. It all depends on how many people continue to turn out for Bolsonaro.
Even if you don’t follow South American affairs closely, you will probably recognize the name Bolsonaro because of the current candidate’s father, Jair, who is still in government custody for daring to question the controversial results of the 2022 election. Lula’s regime is infamous for censoring and arresting political opponents. He will be appropriately afraid of accountability should he lose this election.

Speaking of which, over in Spain, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez persisted in siding with the thousands of violent, destructive, criminal Muslim men who poured into Ceuta and other Spanish territories this year. Reported crime went up by 1000% in Ceuta alone after Morocco sent its de facto invasion force in. Now Sánchez’s government is literally collapsing because it turns out his voters hate the fact that he prioritizes vicious foreigners.

Not that immigration is the only issue. Unsurprisingly, under a socialist government, housing affordability has become a major issue in Spain. Policies such as mass migration, government overreach, and overspending on useless projects tend to create housing crises everywhere. Then Sánchez’s wife and brother, among other associates, are both facing corruption charges right now.

Sánchez has therefore dissolved parliament and announced early elections in November. Polymarket indicates that Sánchez is likely to lose power after the elections.

Socialists always talk about loving the people and then implement policies that impoverish and oppress most people while enriching only the top elites. No ideology has been so deadly in world history as Marxism in terms of mass murder, and perhaps no ideology has been so at variance between its stated goals and its consistent results.
Sánchez might blather about affordability and helping young people fulfill their dreams, but in the long run, he really just wants to stay in power indefinitely, no matter how many crimes his family members commit or how much he wrecks his country. Lula in Brazil has the same attitude. What they are finding out is that their positions are not quite so secure as they arrogantly assumed.
