Legal Immigrants Condemn Biden-Era Policies After D.C. Shooting

Democrats love to shout that we are a country of immigrants without noting that we were supposed to be a country of legal immigrants, with certain restrictions and stopgaps to prevent massive numbers of unassimilated and dangerous people from entering. The Biden administration did exactly what great Americans of former eras warned against, and legal immigrants are among those speaking out against the crisis.

Some of the most patriotic Americans are legal immigrants. And since they spent years going through a complicated process to move to America and receive citizenship, they are often also the strongest critics of illegal immigration. Why should dangerous criminal foreigners get for free what others had to work so hard to obtain? And why should native-born and legal immigrant Americans alike be endangered by illegal alien thugs?

Ahmad Shah Mohibi is a veteran, entrepreneur, and speaker who was born in Afghanistan but is now American. While he believes that the Trump administration is unfairly generalizing about Afghanis after Afghan Rahmanullah Lakanwal shot two National Guardsmen in D.C. last week, Mohibi does acknowledge that the Biden administration’s method of shipping over huge numbers of barely vetted Afghanis was a problem. He wants reform of our immigration system:

Lily Tang Williams, who escaped Communist China to come to America and run for Congress in New Hampshire, replied to Mohibi, “Exactly, Biden’s open border policies is the biggest slap in the face to the legal immigrants who follow our laws. It seems like they wanted unvetted people flooding into our country. They don’t care about the safety of our streets and communities. Totally disgusting!”

ACT for America Founder Brigitte Gabriel, who survived terrorism in her birth country of Lebanon to move to America, supports the Trump administration’s new policies. “President Trump is 100% right, we don't need any migrants from third world countries who hate us and will end up on government assistance,” she posted.

The problem is not immigration in and of itself. The problem is illegal immigration — and, to some extent, the removal of immigration limits and restrictions that in previous eras allowed in certain numbers of immigrants to ensure assimilation and to avoid burdening the Americans already here. Ellis Island did not open the doors to every person who knocked. Programs like H-1B visas reserve jobs that ought to go to Americans for foreigners who accept cheaper wages. And millions of illegal aliens receive taxpayer-funded assistance. None of that is acceptable.

Founding Father Thomas Jefferson once wrote, “Suppose 20 millions of republican Americans thrown all of a sudden into France, what would be the condition of that kingdom? If it would be more turbulent, less happy, less strong, we may believe that the addition of half a million of foreigners to our present numbers would produce a similar effect here.”

We have 30 million+ illegal aliens in America. It has certainly made our country more turbulent, less happy, and less strong. That needs to end.
