If Hamas Isn’t Destroyed, the War Will Never End

If Hamas is not completely destroyed, there can be no lasting peace.

Most people do not know that, while this latest war began with the Oct. 7 atrocities on the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust, Islamic jihadis have been attacking Israel and committing thousands of terrorist attacks on Israel almost perpetually since Israel had its modern rebirth. This is exactly why Gaza should be cleared out and taken over by Israel again. It has been nothing but a breeding ground for terrorism since Israel gave it to the Arabs who deceptively call themselves “Palestinians.” And most certainly, if Hamas is not completely destroyed, any “peace” is empty and temporary.

After all, Islamic sacred texts command Muslims to kill and rape non-Muslims, most particularly Jews. This is why the overwhelming majority of Palestinians support jihad and even their children are indoctrinated into the death cult. You cannot deal reasonably with people like that. The “Palestinians” have always refused their own state because they do not want their own state — indeed, they were already given Jordan. What they want is to wipe Israel off the map. Hence anyone who believes that some sort of peace deal can be brokered with Hamas, whether he live in Israel or in America, is delusional. This is mere wishful thinking, inconsistent with a century of hard facts.

One individual who clearly sees the truth is author Douglas Murray. In a recent appearance on Piers Morgan's show, he criticized those within Israel and around the world who claim that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is blocking peace, when really it’s Hamas and its fanatical “Palestinian” supporters who don’t want peace. “In my view, it is not Netanyahu who's uncompromising, it's Hamas who’s uncompromising,” he said.

This war would never have started but for Hamas, and it could have ended long ago but for Hamas. “They could have handed back the hostages last October,” Murray pointed out. “I mean, they could have tried to build a state since 2005 when Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip and handed the place over to them, Hamas could have used the billions of dollars and pounds and euros that British and European and American taxpayers gave them since 2006… to build up Gaza.”

But instead, “They built down instead of upwards. They built a tunnel network bigger than the London Underground for all of those years, and they squirreled away the money, just like Yasser Arafat did before, and they made themselves rich. Why was [assassinated Hamas leader] Ismail Haniyeh worth billions of dollars? …Why are their children like princelings[,] living in apartment complexes in Doha? Because they took the money of Americans and Brits and Europeans,” leaving Gazans to starve. And yet most Gazans continued to support Hamas! That’s the power of fanatical religious propaganda.

It is worth noting that almost every Muslim nation — if not every one — throughout history has followed the same pattern, either wallowing entirely in barbarism or only enriching the elite. Even in Muslim nations we now call wealthy or “modernized,” that applies to a very small percentage of the country. Islam denies the value of individual human life and glorifies exploitation. It is inherently incompatible with widespread prosperity, freedom, and the best kind of civilization.

Murray pointed to the fact that Hamas always uses “Palestinian children and their lives in order to pressurize the world. … [T]hey want the death of their own citizens … in order to get world opinion turned against Israel again. How do you negotiate with that?” You can’t, of course. The WWII generation had it right — unconditional surrender is the only option when fighting a demonic regime.

Finally, Murray slammed the cultural imperialism of Westerners who falsely believe that most people in the world have the same basic beliefs and standards for goodness and happiness that they do. “The assumption always is in the West today, because we're so [] fat and lazy in our expectation, [is] that peace is the norm and that historically it's the norm… that wars end by some kind of compromise and coming around the table.” But “historically, most wars end because one side wins and one side loses. And one of the reasons, in my view, why there is this endless round of war in this region is because the Israelis are never allowed to win, and Hamas [is] always allowed to draw. And I think that that is simply to set up the precursor for the next conflict.”

That is 100% true, as is Murray’s warning: “If Hamas come out of this with a fighting capability, then there will be another round of this war in a couple of years. Everybody wants peace, except for Hamas and the fanatics … all of these people in the south, these kibbutzniks and the party-goers and others who were murdered on Oct. 7, all dreamed of peace with their Palestinian neighbors and brothers and sisters,” but Hamas — and most Palestinians — didn’t share their dream.

If Hamas is not obliterated, they will launch another Oct. 7 and another war as soon as they have bought enough new weapons and built up enough new tunnels with the foreign aid money that gullible Westerners send them. Anyone who says differently is either lying or delusional.
