The Key Difference Between Cornyn and Paxton That Trumps Everything Else

Sen. John Cornyn (RINO-Texas) and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton are facing each other in a runoff Senate primary election on May 26. There are many, many reasons to support Paxton rather than Cornyn, but if we look at just one issue, I think the choice is very clear.

Cornyn has previously expressed support for giving millions of illegal aliens mass amnesty, and he also released a Spanish-language ad showing a pro-amnesty agenda. Paxton, in contrast, has been aggressively opposed to illegal immigration and made multiple moves to punish sanctuary policies within Texas. As a border state, Texas is always at the center of the illegal immigration debate, and it really cannot afford to continue having a senator weak on border security. Not only Texas but the entire country needs a new senator who is a warrior at all times for Americans, not for criminal foreigners.

Back in 2020, for instance, after the U.S. Supreme Court absurdly upheld an Obama-era amnesty program, Cornyn enthused, according to Texas Scorecard, “[this] thrust upon us a unique moment and an opportunity.” He claimed, “We need to take action and pass legislation that will unequivocally allow these young men and women to stay in the only home, the only country, they’ve known.”

DACA allows illegal aliens who entered the United States as children to obtain citizenship. Many of these minors are dangerous criminals, like Nicaraguan national Keyner Ariel Calero-Jiron and an unnamed 17-year-old illegal alien accomplice who committed a recent shooting in Dallas that resulted in a pregnant woman losing her unborn baby. Multiple illegal alien minors were in the group that murdered Larisha Thompson last year. Yet below, you can see how Cornyn also argued as if being present in our country in violation of our laws was an obvious qualification for demanding the privilege of citizenship:

Also in 2020, Cornyn released a Spanish-language ad with the same sort of rhetoric:

[Daily Caller] Cornyn, in an unlisted 2020 Spanish-language television spot titled “Tranquilo” on his campaign’s YouTube, targets Hispanic voters. In the ad, a female voiceover — speaking Spanish — explicitly states that Sen. Cornyn ” firmly supports the legalization of the ‘Dreamers’.” That line is immediately followed by Sen. Cornyn — in English — stating, “I’m John Cornyn, and I approve this message.”

Paxton’s record is consistently hardcore against illegal immigration. Just last week, he announced, “I'm investigating the Dallas County Sheriff for sanctuary policies and demanding that the Sheriff comply with Texas law by seeking an agreement to assist ICE in enforcing federal immigration law.”

In April, Paxton sued Houston officials for their sanctuary policies that protect illegal alien criminals and limit cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. As far back as 2021, Paxton was bringing the pressure on the Biden administration:

President Donald Trump, thank you for endorsing Ken Paxton for the Senate race. He is the only reasonable choice.
