Peace Only Happen When Both Sides Want It — and Jihadis Don't

I always laugh when I see lefties marching with “peace” signs or putting up “imagine peace” posters. The problem is that when it comes to Islamic jihad, neither America nor Israel has a choice for peace. We can decide to fight and win, or surrender and be killed. Because peace doesn’t happen when one side surrenders its arms — it happens when both sides want peace. The last thing terrorists will ever want is peace.

The late Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir said, "Peace will come when the Arabs start to love their children more than they hate us." Writer Frank J. Fleming just posted a more recent equivalent of the same message on X, “The main problem for the Palestinians is they want to murder Jews and Jews really don’t like being murdered. One of those two attitudes has to change for there to be peace.” The really insane part is that the Jews have historically been more willing to put themselves at increased risk of murder than the so-called Palestinians are to stop murdering — that’s how the Muslims come to be in charge of Bethlehem, Jericho, and Gaza, which the Jews generously gave them, as if over 50 Muslim nations were not sufficient.

Even at the present moment, Israel is helping pour aid into Gaza with hundreds of trucks daily, while its own civilians struggle to rebuild and avoid being killed in regular missile attacks. No matter what atrocities Hamas and its fellow Palestinian jihadis commit, no matter how much money the Palestinian Authority (PA) gives to the terrorists, no matter how many Palestinians enthusiastically support Jihad (as of Oct. 2025, 80%), all of the international aid and sympathy — including from America — goes to Gaza. There’s never any significant aid to help Israelis recover, never any international campaign to rebuild homes that Hezbollah or Hamas destroyed.

The PA made numerous terrorists released under the U.S.-brokered deal automatic millionaires, and even the U.S. State Department is now admitting that the pay-for-slay program is very much alive and well. Hamas has consolidated its power in Gaza since the alleged end of the Oct. 7 war. Yasser Arafat invented the concept of a “Palestinian people” to convince his conglomeration of angry, Jew-hating Arabs that their main purpose in life was to wipe Israel off the map, and it was wildly successful.

Like Hamas and Hezbollah whom they support, Iranian regime tyrants are totally uninterested in peace. Firstly, they can only rule their people with an iron fist, as they proved this year by massacring over 40,000 freedom protestors, a slaughter that continues with political executions. But the Iranian regime is also the biggest state sponsor of terrorism in the world, and the people running the regime now are the same who have chanted "death to America and Israel" for decades. They violate every ceasefire because they'd truly rather die than give up fighting the "great Satan" America and "little Satan" Israel.

The issue is that Westerners, even those who consider themselves practicing Christians or Jews, simply do not make major political decisions based on their faith, which always puts us at a disadvantage when dealing with Muslim fundamentalists, because we expect them to be the same. They are not. Islamic sacred texts endorse the killing and rape of non-Muslims, especially Jews, and for Muslim jihadis, terrorism is not only a way of life, but the shortcut to paradise.

America will be waiting as long for the Iranian mullahs to make peace as Israel has been for the Palestinians to make it. Peace only happens when both sides aim to bring it about.
