Yet another mass shooting on Sunday added more victims to a weekend filled with horrendous violence both in America and around the world. The teens were at a “Sweet 16” birthday party at the time of the early Sunday shooting, according to the New York Post. As of yesterday, none of the teenagers had died, but one of the girls had three different injuries, including a bullet wound to the chest.
Unnamed sources stated that the shooting occurred after a dispute over a girl, according to the Post. As of yesterday, the police had not released details as to who the shooter was targeting or what escalated the argument to the point of gun violence.
A local school janitor described the catering hall where the shooting occurred as a spot that attracts trouble. “They use it for events, and after all the events, they leave liquor bottles all out on the block,” said Frank Barilla. “The sidewalk is always dirty. I can’t wait until they lock it down.”
Police found a bloody scene when they arrived at the site of the birthday party:
At the scene, they found three 15-year-olds: a girl with wounds to the chest, hip and leg, another girl wounded in the right leg, and a boy shot in the left arm.
Also wounded were a 16-year-old boy shot in the right arm, another 16-year-old boy hit in the left foot, and a 17-year-old male with a wound to the right thigh.
The birthday was at a catering hall, as mentioned above, and management subsequently released a statement on the violence. “Burbuja Events hosted a Sweet Sixteen celebration that concluded at approximately 1:00 a.m.,” the hall’s management said, per the Post. “Approximately 20 minutes after the event ended, a tragic incident occurred outside of our event.”
They added, “Our management is fully cooperating with authorities and remains in active communication with the NYPD 75th Precinct and Brooklyn North Night Watch. We extend our deepest sympathies to those affected by this incident and hope for the swift recovery and safety of all involved.”

Tragically, this was one of multiple mass casualty events in the last few days. On Saturday, an ISIS-linked former Syrian government jihadi ambushed and murdered two United States Army soldiers and a civilian interpreter, injuring several others too. ISIS and Syria’s ruling jihadi group HTS are rival terror entities, part of the constant conflict in the country from warring Islamic factions.
On that same day, a mass shooting at Brown University killed two students and injured multiple others. Rumors now claim it was a targeted attack on a Jewish professor’s class related to Judaic studies. Whatever the motivation, the shooter has yet to be caught, as the previously arrested suspect was released.
On Sunday, the first day of Hanukkah, two Muslim terrorists reportedly affiliated with ISIS gunned down 16 people and injured dozens more at a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach in Australia. Last night, famous American director Rob Reiner and his wife were found dead in their home, with their son the accused deadly stabber. The shooting in Brooklyn adds to the number of heinous weekend attacks.
