AP Downplayed Violence Against ICE Just Before Shooting at ICE Facility

The Associated Press is a leftist propaganda machine, but its timing on one piece downplaying an ICE officer’s near-fatal run-in with an illegal alien criminal turned out to be particularly awful.

The day before the fatal Dallas shooting occurred, where the perpetrator inscribed “anti-ICE” on bullets, AP published a headline and article which were of course picked up by multiple other outlets, explicitly downplaying an attack on a Chicago ICE officer that the agency reported at the time almost killed the officer. But AP aimed to scoff at his injuries because it wanted to frame his illegal alien attacker as a victim.

As ICE related and PJ Media reported, ICE officers in Chicago were trying to conduct a routine traffic stop when an illegal alien criminal attempted to escape them and ended up dragging one officer for a significant distance with his car. ICE stated that the officer was “seriously injured” with “multiple injuries.” But according to the stellar journalists at AP, who claimed to have seen body cam footage (Anyone else remember mainstream media pushing altered audio to misrepresent the Trayvon Martin shooting?), this was all a lie.

“Immigration agent who shot man in Chicago-area traffic stop says injuries were 'nothing major'” is the shameful headline on the AP piece smearing ICE the day before the Dallas shooting. Even AP had to admit that the footage that the local Police Department released was cut up and that faces were blurred. It claims that one officer admits to having been “dragged a little bit.” Because the officer was still able to stand at that time, AP, Democrat politicians, and radical leftist activists are blowing their tops demanding an investigation because the poor little innocent illegal alien was killed, and the officer survived.

And if there’s one thing we should care about, it is if criminals with multiple charges and murderous intent — and even AP admitted that the footage showed officers describing how the illegal tried to run them over — survive dangerous run-ins with law enforcement. AP also promoted a selected and brief clip obtained by the Chicago Tribune apparently showing the ICE officer saying his injuries were nothing major. ICE still begs to differ. After all, as anyone who has worked with men in uniform knows, they will sometimes downplay their injuries in the call of duty, which medical professionals might assess as being much more serious.

Other outlets, including Fox32 ChicagoABC NewsMilitary.com, and The Los Angeles Times, ran the AP piece. And the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is not amused. “Stop writing pro-criminal propaganda. It’s pathetic,” DHS slammed the outlet:

We all know why leftists like the ones at AP want to smear ICE in Chicago, because a major operation is ongoing in that Democrat sanctuary city to arrest hundreds of criminal illegal aliens. Instead of admitting attacks against ICE are up 1,000%, AP is trying to gin up empathy for criminals and hostility for ICE.

This AP piece could not have had worse timing, as DHS announced Sept. 24, “This morning at the Dallas ICE Field Office, there was a shooting resulting in multiple injuries and fatalities. The shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. This violence against our ICE law enforcement must stop.” Subsequent reports indicated that the fatality was a detainee, but the feds have yet to confirm that. The FBI did provide a photo showing that bullet casings found by authorities at the scene were inscribed with “ANTI ICE.”

Who knows? False reports exactly like the one AP published yesterday could have radicalized the shooter against ICE.
