It was comical, except it was also deadly serious. Video went viral on Friday of a New York firefighter passionately berating a man dressed in an Elmo costume, with a Palestinian flag draped around his shoulders.
Yes, in any sane world, the jihad supporter might have thought that wearing an Elmo costume while standing up for his buddies in Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad made his entire cause look ridiculous, but this is not a sane world, this is the world in which a Marxist Muslim is now the mayor of the world’s center of capitalism, the city that endured the largest Islamic jihad attack in modern times. And so one plucky firefighter took it upon himself to tell Elmo exactly what he thought of him.
“Anti-American mother****r,” says the enraged fireman to Elmo, and he’s just getting warmed up. “Go back to f****n’ Palestine! We don’t want you here! And take f****n’ Obama —” That appears to have been a slip, as the intrepid public servant stops himself and then continues: “Take f****n’ Mamdani with you, and f****n’ AOC! And Hochul! Take ‘em all! You’re all mother****n’ dirt! You’re no f****n’ good! That’s right.”

Give the guy a break. He was clearly angry, no doubt at some egregious pro-jihad, anti-American statement from the guy in the Elmo costume. But quite aside from the “just another day in New York City” aspect of this incident, there is an important lesson here. The Elmo costume is really the least of it. The more important question is, Why is this guy parading around with a Palestinian flag on September 11?
The short answer is that supporters of the Palestinian jihad are intruding everywhere these days. There was the clown who ran onto the field at Yankee Stadium at 9:11 p.m. on 9/11, waving a Palestinian flag. There was the other clown who ran through the Dance of Silence that a New York dance company presents every year on September 11, also brandishing a Palestinian flag.
These self-righteous and miseducated harridans are everywhere, but Elmo and the other two Palestinian flag-bearers as well, the one at Yankee Stadium and the one who disrupted the Dance of Silence, indicate something else as well: the congruity between the jihad against the United States and the jihad against Israel. As the “woke right” grows increasingly open in its Jew-hatred (and embrace of the global Islamic jihad), this is important to keep in mind.
The forces who attacked the United States on September 11, 2001 are the same forces that are working to destroy Israel in the name of “Palestinian” liberation. They have the same religious beliefs and the same political ideology, and they targeted the U.S. on 9/11 for the same reason that they target Israel now. The Qur’an directs Muslims to fight non-Muslims “until persecution is no more, and religion is all for Allah.” (8:39)

The U.S. must be fought because it is the primary obstacle to the religion of the world being “all for Allah.” With its principles of religious freedom and pluralism, the U.S. is the most formidable obstacle worldwide to the advance of Sharia. Israel, meanwhile, is on land that was once part of the Abbasid caliphate, and then of the Ottoman Empire. The Qur’an says: “Drive them out from where they drove you out” (2:191) This is the foundation for the Islamic doctrine that any land once under Sharia belongs to the Muslims forever; if infidels rule it, Muslims have a responsibility before Allah to fight to win it back.
And so of course we see people who are disrupting 9/11 commemorations waving Palestinian flags. It’s all the same jihad. The useful idiots who demonstrated for Hamas on college and university campuses all over the country likely don’t realize that they are siding with the enemies of the U.S. — or else they’re so filled with Marxist propaganda at this point that they simply don’t care.
Either way, patriots should take note. As shrill voices among patriots demand that the U.S. sever ties with Israel, it is useful to remember that a large united force is better than a smaller, divided one. The U.S. should cultivate friendships and alliances with all the states that face the Islamic jihad threat today. But that would require admitting that there is an Islamic jihad threat in the first place. 25 years after 9/11, we’ve got a long way to go.
