Markwayne Mullin Rips Chuck Schumer a New ICE Hole

Senate Republicans pushed through a key budget blueprint early Thursday morning after an all-night voting marathon, laying the groundwork to pump billions into Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The measure passed 50-48 on a simple majority vote, with nearly every Republican backing it and 46 Senate Democrats lining up in opposition to funding border enforcement.

“America is crying out for relief from high costs, and you’re here adding $140 billion to an agency that nobody — two groups, Border Patrol and ICE — that nobody respects in this country,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has said about the funding.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin vented his spleen on Thursday morning when discussing Schumer's dismissive comments.

"It makes my ears red," Mullin said during an appearance on Fox News's America's Newsroom. "It takes a lot to get me upset. But Chuck Schumer, no one respects you. The definition of a lying scumbag politician, that is you. You would be the definition if you Googled you right now. I mean, it… Why don't he just come out and be honest with the American people?"

Mullin wasn't finished. The DHS secretary went straight at Schumer's record, pointing out that the Senate minority leader had every opportunity during the Biden years to reshape immigration enforcement — and chose not to. The reason, Mullin argues, is simple: Schumer wants the chaos.

"He wants to have open borders," Mullin accused. "If you wanna defund the Customs and Border Protection Agency, if you wanna defund ICE, who is in there arresting the criminals, that the laws were passed by you. You had time to change those during the Biden administration. You didn't, because you're for open borders, and you're for the criminals running amok in our cities."

That's the part that tends to get glossed over in media coverage of these fights. Democrats spent years blocking serious immigration reform, presiding over record border encounters under Biden, and now they want to position themselves as champions of a system they helped break. Mullin isn't buying it, and he's saying so out loud.

But what really seemed to get under Mullin's skin was the sheer hypocrisy of a senator criticizing the law enforcement officers who are, among other things, keeping him safe.

"For you to say that is so disrespectful to the law enforcement that is out there protecting you," Mullin said, "because he has a detail with him."

That last point hits differently. Schumer, like most senior members of Congress, travels with a security detail — officers drawn from the same federal law enforcement apparatus he's happy to trash for political points. Mullin zeroed in on exactly that contradiction.

"How about he walks around these city streets without a detail?" Mullin said. "I wonder how safe he would feel."

It's a fair question. The men and women Schumer dismisses are the same ones standing between him and the kind of streets his party’s policies helped create.

Editor’s Note: Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left's lies, new legislation wasn't needed to secure our border, just a new president.
