Can Our Republic Survive if Democrats Win Again?

There’s a growing movement on the left that isn’t just about winning elections—it’s about making sure they never lose again. For years, Democrats have been chipping away at the guardrails of our republic, eroding long-standing norms and institutions to tilt the playing field in their favor. From rewriting the rules of Congress to manipulating the courts to engineering voting laws for partisan advantage, their agenda has been steadily advancing. And frankly, I’m terrified that they’ll succeed one day if they ever return to power.

It would be comforting to tell you this is just hyperbole. But it’s not—every time they’ve been in power, they’ve tried to rig the system to stay in power. That’s why Donald Trump’s victory in 2024 was so critical. His win stopped a full Democratic takeover that would have meant the complete dismantling of the constitutional system and the cementing of permanent one-party rule.

Democrats’ relentless escalation in their assault on “our democracy” raises an urgent and unsettling question: how long can our republic survive this systematic dismantling?

They’re not playing to win under the rules—they’re attempting to change them so they never lose.

And they’re not even hiding it.

Fame Democratic strategist James Carville ripped away the last shred of subtlety. He said outright that if Democrats sweep the 2028 elections, they should embed their dominance forever—adding Puerto Rico and D.C. as states to lock in four more Senate seats, and expanding the Supreme Court to 13 seats stacked with leftist activists. He admitted these changes would open “Pandora’s Box,” but claimed it’s necessary to stop the “continued erosion of democracy” under Trump and his supporters. The irony couldn’t be sharper—Democrats define “saving democracy” as dismantling its safeguards.

It would be easier to write off Carville’s plans if Democrats hadn’t already tried to do everything that Carville said they should do. During the Biden years alone, Democrats attempted to nuke the Senate filibuster, overhaul voting laws in ways that erode election integrity, and pack the Supreme Court.

Now we have an ongoing fight about gerrymandering. Democrats have been gerrymandering districts forever, but scream bloody murder whenever Republicans are in charge of redistricting. Now, Texas Democrats have fled their state to block the proposed plan, and already severely gerrymandered blue states are promising to gerrymander even more. Democrats always play by their own rules.

What we’re seeing is no ordinary politics. This is a radical shift—from government as a temporary, voter-accountable stewardship into a permanent Democrat stronghold designed to shut out any real opposition. Court-packing, forcing new states into the union, gutting the filibuster, ramping up gerrymandering, and rewriting election laws to guarantee their advantage—these aren’t secret schemes whispered behind closed doors. They are bold, openly stated goals.

If Democrats regain full control, it’s not a question of if they’ll act—but when they will. The Founders designed a constitutional framework precisely to prevent this kind of tyranny. Yet when one party bulldozes every safeguard in the name of holding power, the consent of the governed becomes meaningless. Opposition becomes criminalized. Dissent, suppressed. America ceases to be a republic in any meaningful sense.

The stakes couldn’t be higher. The 2024 election proved how vital it was that Trump won to stop this authoritarian march. Now, the fight continues—and Republicans must hold the line in Congress in 2026 to prevent Democrats from pushing these dangerous power grabs any further. If the American people don’t wake up and resist this authoritarian agenda, we risk losing this great republic within our lifetimes. Democrats have already shown us the blueprint. The only question left is whether we’ll stop them before it’s too late.
