I still laugh about how when Joe Biden took office in 2021, the mainstream media pushed the narrative that the “adults were back in charge,” and then everything went to hell. Lately, it seems that Democrats have been desperate to prove that it’s the GOP who are the proverbial adults because Democrats are reportedly planning to disrupt Trump’s speech to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday evening. It doesn’t get more childish than that.
According to reports, Democrats are discussing a litany of disruptive tactics, including potential walkouts, noisemakers, and ridiculous props. These aren't just rumors. Several House Democrats admitted to these plans, with some even considering storming out if Trump criticizes policies on transgender issues. Apparently, they believe that temper tantrums are what voters sent them to Congress to do.

While it's become common for the opposition party to remain seated and silent during parts of a president's speech they disagree with, Democrats have been escalating their theatrics during presidential speeches for years. Remember when Nancy Pelosi childishly ripped up Trump's State of the Union speech in 2020? Apparently, that wasn't immature enough.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called out this absurdity, suggesting that Democrats might want to consider standing and applauding for some of Trump's common-sense policies instead of plotting disruptions.
"Democrats behaving like children would be the least surprising news of the night," Leavitt told Fox News Digital.
The Democrats' planned protest props are beyond embarrassing. Some aim to bring egg cartons to whine about the inflation they pretended didn’t exist for four years. Others plan color-coordinated outfits — pink for the Democratic Women's Caucus, black for female Congressional Black Caucus members, and blue and yellow for Ukraine supporters. Because, apparently, matching outfits will really show Trump who's boss! I wouldn’t be surprised if the same people who blamed Trump for the Oval Office meeting blowup last week won’t even clap if Trump announces that a mineral rights deal with Zelenskyy has been signed.
The most alarming plans involve bringing actual noisemakers to drown out the President's speech. Nothing says "we're the adults in the room" like kindergarten-level disruption tactics.
Even Democratic leaders recognize how pathetic these plans are. In closed-door meetings, they've reportedly urged members to keep protests civil, recognizing that major outbursts would only boost Trump politically. You think?
Some Democrats are skipping the speech entirely, and the way I see it, that’s the better, more mature option.
Some may argue that Republicans aren’t entirely innocent on this issue, which is fair enough — but there’s simply no comparison. Isolated moments like Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) shouting “You lie!” when Barack Obama blatantly misled the country in 2009 or Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) demanding that Biden acknowledge Laken Riley last year are hardly equivalent to the orchestrated, mob-like disruptions of Democrats.
The contrast couldn’t be starker. While Democrats coordinate mass protests, wear matching outfits, and treat serious occasions like a political theater production, Republicans remain focused on fixing the country. One side is acting like the adults in the room, and it sure isn’t the one bringing noisemakers and gimmicks to Congress.
