If you know people by their friends, we have yet another reason to despise Democrats, who are fueling the conspiracy theory that Trump staged his own assassination attempts — which is exactly what a former Iranian regime top dog is saying.
The Democrats regularly align themselves with genocidal terrorists, whether they're in Gaza, in Lebanon, or in Iran, so the fact that Democrats are spreading the same ridiculous conspiracies as their jihadi pals is not shocking, but it is embarrassing. Leftist looniness is so pathetic now that it is on the level of the most extreme bombastic lies from one of America's worst enemies.
Iranian Former Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Larijani sneered that the assassination attempt on Donald Trump last Saturday at the White House Correspondents' Dinner was "intended to conceal a wide range of Trump's huge failures in our region and beyond. He wanted to generate sympathy for himself and say that he was being killed because of his good deeds." (Translation by the Middle East Media Research Institute.)
Larijani ranted that even "being killed like a dog wouldn't be enough for" Trump (note: dogs are unclean in Islam), and then added, "This is unfair on dogs. [Trump] is a criminal and corrupt man, a sinful liar, who is tainted by everything vile in the world. He is a cannibal!" This from the supporter of a regime that just massacred over 40,000 of its own people and deliberately bombarded civilians in multiple countries.
Echoing language from multiple current Iranian leaders, including Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad-Baqer Ghalibaf (or Qalibaf), Larijani then intoned about Trump, "This man must pay the price, but this was clearly a performance... Nevertheless, they must pay for their crimes, and they will."

A staggering number of American leftists agree with Larijani, both about the alleged staged assassination attempts and about the necessity of killing Trump. In fact, a recent Manhattan Institute survey found that 46% of the current Democrat coalition believes even the July 2024 assassination attempt on Trump — when the president actually took a bullet to the head — was staged.
Bluesky, as usual, was an epicenter of leftist insanity after Cole Allen's April 25 assassination attempt. User Kaitlin Kal Lee sneered, "Trump claims the shooting at the WHCA is WHY WE NEED THE BALLROOM AT THE WHITE HOUSE??????? Yeah definitely staged." Dozens of her fellow TDS sufferers commented to agree, including "Wade Is Blue," who opined, "The first and second 'assassination' attempts got him elected. The third gets him a tacky low class ballroom. I guess the fourth will get him the Nobel Prize." Because obviously, the problem couldn't be Democrats labeling Trump "Hitler" and calling for war constantly — no, the "reasonable" interpretation, as one commenter lectured, is that Trump decided to put on an elaborate fake attack.
Bluesky user Ricky Davila was particularly disgusting, mocking Charlie Kirk's traumatized widow: "Looked staged to me, propagandist grifter Erika Kirk’s fake crying was the first clue alongside creepy racist scumbag JD Vance being evacuated first." The inaptly named account "Innerpeace" claimed, "Trump is gonna lose his shit when the 'assassination attempt ' does not cause a bump in his poll numbers."
And like Larijani, many leftists were quite disappointed that Trump survived the attempt. No explanation of how one can simultaneously say an assassination attempt was staged and also mourn its lack of success... but that's the left, always irrational.
