If Amazon Lists Tariff Prices, Don’t Buy the Foreign Products

Tech and shipping giant Amazon is reportedly considering displaying tariff prices next to items to hit back at Donald Trump‘s tariffs on other countries (which, by the way, all already tariff our goods). But patriots could make this backfire against Amazon, using the tariff price breakdown displays to identify which products are foreign, and therefore that we shouldn’t buy them and opt for American products instead.

Leftist media and politicians and woke companies are so used to depending on cheap foreign goods and abusive or slave labor that they are desperate to stop Trump tariffs on foreign goods, especially Chinese goods. And they are trying to get the American people on their side by emphasizing how many of our affordable products are made overseas. Ironically, that could well backfire for them if it emphasizes instead how damagingly dependent we are on countries that are hostile to us and that use forced labor, Communist China, particularly.

I hope Amazon does start listing tariff price breakdowns next to goods. It would be helpful to know what products are made and shipped within America, rather than often having to guess which products are domestic and which foreign. It’s time for us to support our own manufacturing and businesses as much as we can, pressuring companies to return to America and employ Americans. If Jeff Bezos wants to get on the good side of Donald Trump and his voters, attending the inauguration was not sufficient; he also needs to prioritize American businesses and consumers.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt cited the as-yet officially unconfirmed report that Amazon will start providing people a breakdown of how much a product’s price is due to tariffs at a press briefing with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to mark Trump’s first 100 days in office.

Leavitt labeled the reported plan a “hostile and political act” and asked, “Why didn't Amazon do this when the Biden administration hiked inflation to the highest level in 40 years?” She noted that Amazon is accused of partnering with a Chinese propaganda arm and added, “This is another reason why Americans should buy American. It's another reason why we are onshoring critical supply chains here at home to shore up our own critical supply chain, and boost our own manufacturing here.”

Amazon agreed in 2021 to halt customer reviews and ratings in China after it became apparent that some people were not giving Chinese Communist Party (CCP) dictator Xi Jinping’s book only five-star reviews. Amazon agreed to censor customer reviews to please Xi and his genocidal government. In 2022, Amazon suppliers were accused of ties to forced Uyghur labor in Xinjiang.

Amazon has also unfairly targeted Americans, including by censoring books, users, and information on Amazon.com, Alexa, and LinkedIn, as MRC’s CensorTrack database recorded. The tech giant further reportedly promotes and artificially boosts its own brands over more popular brands, which is anticompetitive.

In other words, if Amazon is trying to undermine the Trump administration and support foreign countries that object to Trump tariffs, it would simply be the latest in a long series of un-American actions that the monopolistic and exploitative tech giant has taken.
