War on Christmas 2025: News From the Front, Vol. II

The war against Christmas and the legacy Western culture it represents rages on. Here’s the news from the front.

Christmas presents for children not halal, says British Muslim ‘revert’

By “British” here, I don’t mean a Pakistani who, for the sake of political correctness, gets to be called a Brit; I mean a British woman with a British accent who converted, presumably recently, based on her zeal, sometime in the recent past, put on the hijab, and sold her own traditions down the river for the sake of a 6th-century illiterate warlord who personally beheaded 700 people for Allah in his quest for regional hegemony.

No, my kids won't be getting Christmas presents this year. And no, they won't be missing out. Christmas as a Muslim revert* —  like a new Muslim — is a really strange time, especially when most of your family is Christian or atheist and celebrate Christmas and assume, even though now we are all Muslim, and we're not celebrating Christmas, that we will still be giving our kids presents from us for Christmas.

Number one, presents aren't the point of Christmas. But number two, we have Eid. That's where we would give children presents. Our kids aren't missing out on anything. They have everything that they need. And if there is something that they really, really want, we can get it, inshallah, we always do. We will still be telling our children what Christmas is, why Christians celebrate it. They won't be taking part in it. We'll just be telling them for educational purposes in a kid-friendly and understandable way… There are going to be so many other comments, questions, and people saying things because of Christmas and me being Muslim. So if anyone has any tips or advice — other than praying to Allah — please share with us.

*“Muslim revert”?

I was under the impression that changing religions midstream was known as “conversion,” not “reversion.”

But it seems there’s some theological significance to the nuanced difference between the two terms, the latter recognizing that embracing Islam is not turning over a new leaf, as it were, but rather a return to the natural state of things.

Via Medium (emphasis added):

The concept of “Fitrah” underscores that every individual is born with a natural inclination towards recognizing Allah’s will and submitting to it. According to Islam, “revert” is deeply ingrained in this belief, symbolizing the return to one’s original state of innate submission to Allah.

The Prophet Muhammad (PUBH) emphasized this notion, stating that no child is born except on Al-Fitra (Islam), highlighting the inherent disposition towards Islam from birth.

On the other hand, the term “convert” is broader and encompasses various religious transitions. In the Islamic context, a “convert” refers to someone who consciously chooses to embrace Islam after having followed another faith or none at all. While this transition signifies a shift in belief systems, it may not inherently emphasize the return to a primordial state.

She definitely appears to have reverted to a “primordial state.”

Why do I get the creeping feeling that if, shoe on the other foot, a Muslim apostate made a TikTok video denouncing Ramadan or whatever, assuming she were white somehow (this is getting convoluted, I know), she’d end up in one of Keir Starmer’s gulags?
