David Hogg's Sister Complains to First Lady Melania Trump About 'Cyberbullying' From Laura Ingraham

School Shooting Survivor

UPDATE: Read Laura Ingraham’s statement at the bottom of this article.

On Wednesday, Lauren Hogg, sister of outspoken anti-gun activist and Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg, appealed to First Lady Melania Trump to reprimand Fox News host Laura Ingraham for “cyberbullying” her brother.

“HEY [MELANIA TRUMP] MY BROTHER IS LITERALLY GETTING CYBERBULLIED BY [LAURA INGRAHAM]. ANY COMMENTS?” Lauren Hogg tweeted. This message received more than 13,000 “retweets” and more than 38,000 “likes.”

Ingraham’s offense? Also on Thursday, the Fox News host tweeted, “David Hogg Rejected By Four Colleges To Which He Applied and whines about it. (Dinged by UCLA with a 4.1 GPA…totally predictable given acceptance rates.)” She shared a link to a Daily Wire story reporting on David Hogg’s remarks — on television — that he had gotten rejected.

Perhaps attacking Hogg for this is a tad below the belt, but the anti-gun activist himself (and his sister) has gone overboard in attacks against the National Rifle Association, and especially its spokeswoman Dana Loesch.

Last month, David Hogg told CNN that Loesch “owns these congressmen,” suggesting she and the NRA pull the strings behind Congress. He called Loesch “the CEO of the NRA” and a “national propagandist.”

Hogg then went on to attack conservatives for criticizing law enforcement in the Parkland shooting — specifically, the deputy who refused to enter the school and save children’s lives. He suggested conservatives were hypocritical for supporting police but attacking this spineless deputy whose inaction cost the lives of Hogg’s own fellow students.

“So, the new hotness is to defend the Sheriff’s deputies who sat by and listened as kids were shot in order to continue the grossly misplaced attack on the NRA. Okay,” Townhall editor Katie Pavlich tweeted in response.

Loesch, whose Twitter account is full of threats and hate messages from anti-gun activists, announced last October that threats forced her family to move.

Lauren Hogg, the very woman who approached Melania Trump about the horrors of “cyberbullying,” attacked Loesch on Twitter earlier this month.

Lauren Hogg responded favorably to a tweet from Cameron Kasky, the founder of the “March for Our Lives,” which read: “Somewhere, somebody is comforting their crying child who has only recently awaken from a terrifying dream about [Dana Loesch].”

“Hmm.. My question is [Dana Loesch] how can you tuck your kids in at night knowing that you are allowing the possibility of thousand of kids just like them and including them to be murdered at school? Oh wait… your kids are homeschooled aren’t they so you wouldn’t understand,” Lauren Hogg tweeted, tagging Loesch in the message.

Such ugly statements suggest that the NRA — and Loesch personally — is abetting school shootings by defending Americans’ Second Amendment rights. Lauren Hogg’s decision to mention Loesch’s children proved particularly disgusting, as the NRA spokeswoman has already received multiple threats.

As if this were not enough, David Hogg has also launched into multiple profanity-laced tirades against the NRA and pro-Second Amendment lawmakers. “The pathetic f***ers that want to keep killing our children, they could have blood from children splattered all over their faces and they wouldn’t take action because they all still see those dollar signs,” Hogg said in an interview earlier this month.

The activist attacked the elderly and Congress in one breath. “At this point its like when your old-a** parent is like, ‘I don’t know how to send an iMessage’ and you’re like, ‘Ok give me the f***ing phone’ and you take it and you get it done in one second. Sadly, that’s what we have to do with our government because our parents don’t know how to use a f***ing democracy so we have to do it.”

Melania Trump has said she intends to fight cyberbullying in her position as first lady.

If Laura Ingraham “cyberbullied” David Hogg by sharing a story based on Hogg’s public statements about being rejected by four colleges, then Lauren Hogg certainly “cyberbullied” Dana Loesch by suggesting she was responsible for school shootings and suggesting that her children do not deserve safety. David Hogg’s attacks went far beyond “cyberbullying.”

If First Lady Melania Trump decides to dignify Lauren Hogg’s tweet with a response, she should note the double standard.

Update: Ingraham’s apology.

Ingraham apologized. “Any student should be proud of a 4.2 GPA —incl. [David Hogg]. On reflection, in the spirit of Holy Week, I apologize for any upset or hurt my tweet caused him or any of the brave victims of Parkland,” the Fox host tweeted.

“For the record, I believe my show was the first to feature David… immediately after that horrific shooting and even noted how ‘poised’ he was given the tragedy. As always, he’s welcome to return to the show anytime for a productive discussion,” she concluded.

David Hogg wasn’t satisfied with the apology, however, declaring that “an apology in an effort just to save your advertisers is not enough.”

“I will only accept your apology only [sic] if you denounce the way your network has treated my friends and I in this fight. It’s time to love thy neighbor, not mudsling at children,” Hogg declared.
