The Drudge Report — which has been a major cheerleader for Donald Trump for months — has its panties up in a bunch (in a good way) because NBC has supposedly published the results of a shock poll!
Wow! A ‘shock’ poll that has Hillary Clinton sinking? 47-44? That must mean that Trump has overtaken her, doesn’t it?
Hillary Clinton’s lead over Donald Trump narrowed to 3 points this week after several days of controversy following FBI Director James Comey’s recommendation that no criminal charges be brought against the former secretary of state over her use of a private email server.
In other words, after having the worst possible week for a presidential candidate, Hillary is still up 3 whole points. The reason is simple: although American voters dislike and distrust her, they despise Donald Trump even more. What’s worse for the presumed Republican nominee is that voters’ dislike of him isn’t changing:
When respondents were asked their impression of the Democratic candidate in May, 59 percent of voters said they had either a “somewhat” or “very” unfavorable impression of Clinton. This week, amid intense scrutiny, her disapproval rating is now 60 percent — virtually unchanged since two months ago. Trump does not appear to have benefited from Clinton’s controversy as he also has a 62 percent unfavorable rating this week; identical to his rating among registered voters in May.
Hillary couldn’t have had a worse week and yet she still beats Trump soundly. Stick a fork in it, this election is done.
