John Lewis was Once Erroneously Placed on No-Fly List He Wants to Use to Deny Due Process

Rep. John Lewis has been live-tweeting the tantrum he and fellow Democrats are having over not getting their way with various gun-grabbing efforts.

The above tweet should erase any doubt that the Occupy movement always was a top-down astroturf job by the Democrats.

As most know, the centerpiece of the legislation that Democrats are trying to force down the throats of the American people is to ban Second Amendment rights for anyone placed on the federal “no-fly” list. It’s a quick little anti-Constitution one-two punch that throws out the Fifth Amendment to strip Second Amendment rights, and it is all based on an arbitrary list.

A list on which John Lewis himself was once accidentally placed.

On the same day Kennedy revealed his flight troubles, civil rights icon and longtime Rep. John Lewis revealed he, too, had been snarled by the watchlist dragnet. According to his office, the Georgia Democrat had over the course of a year been held up 35 to 40 times. Despite reaching out to a number of federal agencies over that period, Lewis’ name had remained on a list.

Not only was he erroneously placed on the list, he couldn’t get himself off of it quickly. At the time, Lewis had been in Congress for 27 years. If he couldn’t get it cleared up quickly, what chance does an average citizen have?

It is disturbing that a man who came into the public consciousness because he was battling institutional government oppression of the rights of American citizens is now a champion of doing just the same.

Even more disturbing is the casual disregard for so much (if not all) of the Constitution that the Democrats are openly admitting to having now. For decades they kept their contempt for liberties they don’t approve of veiled. Now their Soviet fetish is in full bloom and the country teeters on the edge of a slope more slippery than any it’s seen before.
