When I was a kid, I disdained Mother and Father’s Days as business conspiracies of Macy’s and Gimbels and maybe they were. But as I grow older and she grows older, I am grateful for any minutes I can spend with my mother. (I took this photo of the former Ruth Elaine Lichtenberg in Amagansett in August 2002). Because I am in the city for the Personal Democracy Forum, I will be gathering with the New York Branch of the family at the Yale Club (no Taliban present I hope) for brunch. I am looking forward.
