A video posted on X on Monday showed what Europe is becoming and has already become. A man who is identified as a migrant from Pakistan is depicted in the video, rampaging through a cemetery in Portugal, breaking crosses and screaming “Allahu akbar.” It’s safe to say that one would never have seen such a spectacle in Europe within living memory, but now it is becoming increasingly familiar. Christian cemeteries in France as well as Portugal have been subjected to similar treatment, giving a hint of what Europe in general will be like within a few decades, as the people who would do this sort of thing grow more numerous and those who deplore such behavior grow older and die out.
The Pakistani in the Portuguese cemetery seemed to be proceeding from assumptions that are deeply embedded in the religion of Islam. The cross is an affront to Islam. The Qur’an claims that Jesus was not crucified, although in somewhat equivocal language for what is supposed to be the perfect word of an omniscient god:
And their saying, “Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah.” And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but another was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain. (4:157)
Not for certain. Some traditions of Muhammad, however, are more sure that Jesus was not crucified or killed, and consider the very idea that Jesus died on the cross to be an affront to the dignity of Allah, for the all-powerful deity would certainly have saved his prophet (as Islam considers Jesus to be) from such an ignominious death.
In Portugal, a Pakistani migrant breaks into a cemetery and starts destroying crosses while shouting “Allahu Akbar”.

And a hadith depicts Muhammad saying: “The Hour will not be established until the son of Mary (i.e. Jesus) descends amongst you as a just ruler, he will break the cross, kill the pigs, and abolish the jizya tax. Money will be in abundance so that nobody will accept it (as charitable gifts)” (Bukhari 46.37.2476).
This means that Jesus will destroy Christianity (break the cross), force the Christians to obey the Islamic food laws that they have heretofore ignored (kill the pigs) and end the second-class dhimmi status (abolish the jizya) that Islamic law specifies for Christians, such that they will either have to convert to Islam or be killed.
With such beliefs likely in his mind, this Pakistani made his way to a new land, and found it, to his indignation and rage, full of visible manifestations of what he considered to be this false religion that insults Allah. And so in the cemetery, he took matters into his own hands. He had no compunction about destroying the cross atop the graves, not only because the cross is an affront to Allah’s omnipotence, but because the ruins that he was creating would bear witness to the superiority of Islam and the victory of Islam over Christianity. “Just travel in the land,” the Qur’an tells Muslims, “and see the nature of the consequences for those who denied” (3:137).

The “consequences for those who denied” are the ruins of their temples or objects of worship, such as the Bamiyan Buddhas in Afghanistan. Those ruins show that Allah was the more powerful deity and brought about the destruction of his rivals. The Taliban welcome tourists to the site of the empty niches where the Buddhas once stood, for their very absence is testimony to Allah’s victory.
That means that there are likely to be many more desecrated and ruined cemeteries in Europe in the near future. There are plenty of crosses in the overwhelming majority of European cemeteries, each one an insult to Allah on its own, and the stone structures give the Muslim newcomers plenty to work with to create ruins that show Allah’s judgment and power. This is the new Europe that leftism and multiculturalism have created. By the time the supremacists among the newcomers are through, Europe is likely to be so wonderfully diverse that few signs of its Christian heritage remain at all.
