Mark Levin Takes on Donald Trump Over His Support for Ethanol and Opposition to Giving Land Back to the States

Conservative talk show host Mark Levin has clearly had it with Donald Trump’s leftward bent in recent days (which is just a repetition of the views he had in the decades before he announced his candidacy in June of last year, but that’s purely as an aside). Day after day, Levin takes down Trump’s support for unconstitutional power grabs from the federal government.

Listen here to what Levin had to say about Trump’s support for ethanol subsidies and his opposition to giving federally owned lands back to the states:

One of the most powerful quotes from this epic rant:

Some people out there might be banging their heads against the wall saying “Hey Mark, give it up.” I never give up liberty, not now, not ever. There are too many young men and women overseas fighting for it, and I’ll be damned if I surrender it behind this microphone.

He also said he doesn’t care who’s running: he has dedicated his life to defending conservative principles and he’d rather die than give in to pressure from outsiders who want him to play along to get along.

Levin’s criticism of Trump is especially striking because he has regularly defended the billionaire businessman against what he deemed to be unfair attacks in the past. See his response to the Megyn Kelly/Trump spat in August of last year. As he explained on his show yesterday, however, that doesn’t mean that he’s in the tank for Trump — or anyone else for that matter. He’s for conservative principles. If specific candidates share those principles he’ll speak out positively about them, but if they do not, he’ll criticize them and try to pressure them into joining the light side of the force.

And that’s exactly why he — together with Glenn Beck — is my favorite radio head of them all.
