President Trump has never been known for his appropriateness with families and kids, but he really pushed the boundaries this time. The Press Corps’ children were tick-or-treating in the White House and stopped by the Oval Office. His first intuition, to comment on how good or scary the kids’ Halloween costumes were, was fine, but then he went off script.
Trump quipped, “I cannot believe the media produced such beautiful children.” What…?!? Because he has had a longstanding feud with the press, he thinks it’s okay to joke about his ugly (literally?) expectations for their progeny?!? And it only gets worse…
He also mused that the kids would wind up being like their parents, and hinted for them how poorly he thinks of their fathers or mothers. He basically told these kids not to listen to, or wind up like their parents! He also joked with one girl that she could have the Hershey Kisses he was doling out because she didn’t have to worry about weight problems yet.
No matter what you think of Trump as a president or a leader, you cannot think that his behavior with these children was acceptable…
