Geert Wilders Plans to Conquer the Netherlands Through Municipal Elections

It has taken him a long time, but Geert Wilders’ PVV party (Party for Freedom) plans to participate in 30 municipalities during next year’s municipal elections. That’s a significant improvement for the PVV. Back in 2014, they only participated in two municipalities.

That’s right, although the left routinely calls Wilders anti-women and racist, the top three of his party’s list in Purmerend are women… and two of them are ethnic minorities. Strange, isn’t it? You’d almost think that the left’s attacks on the PVV leader are #fakenews.

On Twitter, Wilders announced the municipalities in which the PVV will participate in the municipal elections. All twelve provinces of the Netherlands are covered:

“On 21 March millions of Dutch can locally vote for the only party that truly defends our culture, our identity, our freedom, and that is, therefore, against the Islamization of our country,” Wilders explained in a statement to the press.

The reason that Wilders’ party only participated in two municipalities in the past and now in thirty is that it took Wilders a lot of time to build his party from the ground up. Unlike other Dutch parties, the PVV doesn’t allow anyone (except for Wilders himself) to become a member. Although this means that Wilders can make sure that no neo-Nazis or other types of unreliable people can end up representing the PVV, the result is also that the PVV has no internal system of finding and developing young talent. Earlier Wilders said that the PVV aimed to participate in 60 municipalities. He fell short of that number because of this exact problem.

Be that as it may, it’s certainly a step up for Wilders and his party. If his party is successful in most if not all of these municipalities, the PVV will undoubtedly continue to grow in the years ahead, making it a force to be reckoned with on all levels of Dutch politics.
