The latest release of Jeffrey Epstein documents has exposed something Democrats desperately tried to hide: their attempts to tie Donald Trump to Epstein's crimes have been nothing but political theater. But the emails did prove something—something Democrats intend to do. Not only do these emails not implicate Trump, they vindicate him completely, revealing instead a bitter, obsessed man who couldn't stop talking about the friend who cut ties with him two decades ago.
Let’s look at the evidence.
Trump's friendship with Epstein ended abruptly in 2004, when he kicked the financier out of Mar-a-Lago for inappropriate behavior toward a member's daughter. While Trump moved on—building his empire, starring on television, and eventually becoming president—Epstein spiraled through a guilty plea for sex crimes, attempted rehabilitation, and ultimately federal sex-trafficking charges that ended with his suicide in jail. Yet Epstein never moved on from Trump. The emails reveal an obsession that bordered on derangement, with Epstein repeatedly trying to exploit their former relationship while harboring deep resentment toward someone he viewed as intellectually inferior yet wildly more successful.
After their falling out, Epstein attempted to regain relevance by positioning himself as the ultimate Trump enemy. In a May 2017 email to former Clinton Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers, Epstein wrote, "Your world does not understand how dumb [Trump] really is." When former Obama White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler wrote in July 2017 that "Trump is truly stupid," Epstein replied with a single smug word: "Duh."
And speaking of Ruemmler, she was buddy-buddy with Epstein while serving as Barack Obama’s White House counsel. And then there’s that whole situation where a House Democrat was literally texting with Epstein during a 2019 congressional hearing, having Epstein coaching her on what to ask.

But, I digress; the bitterness only intensified. In correspondence with New York Times reporter Landon Thomas, Epstein described Trump as "evil beyond belief" and claimed he'd tried warning people, writing, "I told everyone from day one." He told Ruemmler in August 2018, "I know how dirty Donald is," adding, "My guess is that non-lawyers, NY biz people have no idea." By December 2018, his delusions had reached their peak when he boasted to an unknown recipient, "I am the one able to take him down." These aren't the words of a friend or confidant. Yet Democrats recently attempted to claim they spent Thanksgiving together in 2017 while Trump was president—a laughable assertion contradicted by everything in these files.
The emails also expose Epstein's coordination with anti-Trump author Michael Wolff, who offered counsel on damaging Trump, potentially through blackmail.
So, what do all the mentions of Trump in Epstein’s emails prove?
According to CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski, “The emails suggest that Trump remained a fixation for Epstein, as he’s frequently mentioned numerous times over a span of nearly a decade — including long after their friendship ended.”
While Epstein made claims about Trump in these emails, his credibility was nonexistent. He implied that he was spending Thanksgiving with Trump in 2017, which was provably false. Epstein was, “in the words of one recent assessment in the Atlantic, a 'notorious liar,’” notes Byron York. This alone gives us ample reason to question any claim Epstein has made with Trump as questionable. For example, Epstein’s claim that Virginia Giuffre “spent hours at my house with [Trump]” collapses under the weight of Giuffre’s own words. Her book never made that accusation, and in sworn testimony, she made it clear she never saw Trump and Epstein together. When pressed on whether she’d ever seen Trump at any of Epstein’s homes, she didn’t remember. If she’d spent hours with Trump at Epstein’s house, she’d remember.
Democrats gambled on this narrative because they were hungry for a bombshell. What they found was a spotlight on their own obsession. The record clears Trump. The emails make that obvious. The only thing left is the spectacle of Democrats tripping over the storyline they tried to manufacture.
