One of the most alarming developments of the progressive era is the rise of the transgender cult. What was once a niche mental illness affecting a small group of adults has, almost overnight, moved into the cultural mainstream with leftist elites celebrating it, even though the underlying ideas are absurd and unscientific. In just a few short years, this dangerous ideology went from obscurity to targeting vulnerable children, with left-wing activists eager to prove their tolerance by blindly embracing it, no questions asked.
Yet if you look closely, even many of the most vocal LGBTQ advocates on the left seem to understand deep down that transgenderism doesn’t hold up to scrutiny.
Take Pete Buttigieg, for example. He recently told NPR that when it comes to biological males competing in women’s sports, he thinks that “most reasonable people would recognize that there are serious fairness issues if you just treat this as not mattering when a trans athlete wants to compete in women’s sports.”
I suspect Buttigieg was trying to moderate on the issue somewhat because he’s going to run for president again. Still, there’s no way he’d even voice these concerns if he didn’t fundamentally believe men and women are different. The problem is that despite acknowledging the obvious, he never takes a stand. Instead, he tries to have it both ways, claiming that he’s taking “everyone seriously” and nodding to worried parents, all while refusing to face the real damage biological males inflict on female athletes.
However, he tried to have it both ways during a recent interview with Democratic strategist Aaron Parnas.
"I see this issue being used to divide. I see it being used to hurt people,” Buttigieg claimed. "It's especially hurtful for trans people and people with transgender members of their family who witness themselves or people they love being used as a political football.”
Classic move for a Democrat looking to run for president. Pretend to care about all sides before waffling.
Still, buried beneath Buttigieg’s awkward equivocation is a sliver of truth. He knows it’s wrong for men to crush women’s records and dominate female competitions. He understands it’s unjust for biological females to watch men who had no business competing against them steal their championships, scholarships, and careers. But he’s trapped, fully aware that the party’s radical base is all in on transgender ideology, while the broader public overwhelmingly rejects it. So Buttigieg dodges the issue, sounding less like a leader with principles and more like a politician desperate to avoid real answers.

He says this problem “is being used to divide” and is “especially hurtful for trans people,” as if acknowledging biological realities is some cruel attack. Meanwhile, he almost completely ignores the real victims, the women whose legitimate achievements get erased. When pressed, Buttigieg won’t answer the simple, straightforward question every parent and citizen wants to hear: Would you tolerate your daughter losing her sports championship to a biological male? What about a scholarship?
Buttigieg’s confused stance exposes a fundamental collapse of logic on the left. At its core, even the most vocal woke activists understand that biology, not feelings or “gender identity,” is what determines fairness in competition. Science doesn’t bend to ideology, no matter how desperately some try to rewrite reality. When a Democrat presidential hopeful is compelled to admit the obvious fairness problems, it sends a message: anyone still clinging to the fantasy that “gender identity” alone can equalize the playing field is ignoring reality.
This is why we can't trust Democrats. They know what’s right but refuse to act on what they know is right, choosing woke ideology over truth. Even the most die-hard leftists, who have long denied basic biology, are now being forced to face an inconvenient fact: fairness in sports depends on respecting biological differences. Until our leaders confront this truth head-on, the integrity of women’s sports will continue to erode.
