The Left Keeps Kneeling on the George Floyd Hoax

Five years have passed since Minneapolis erupted in what the mainstream media infamously dubbed "fiery but mostly peaceful protests" following George Floyd's death. Today, the left continues clinging to their carefully crafted victimhood narrative, willfully ignoring the devastating reality of what actually transpired.

We all know what happened. Rioters burned buildings to the ground, destroyed countless businesses, and overran a police precinct. Multiple lives were lost, including that of retired St. Louis Police Chief David Dorn. The damage toll reached into the billions, with many areas still bearing the scars of destruction in 2025.

The left's response? They showered Floyd's family with a $27 million settlement and staged a bunch of taxpayer-funded funerals, one of which was a campaign commercial for Joe Biden. There were depictions in murals, statues, and countless references in speeches and even legislation. Kamala Harris eagerly promoted bail funds for rioters, and politicians engaged in theatrical knee-taking sessions at the U.S. Capitol.

Five years later, and they’re still treating George Floyd like some kind of canonized martyr.

“Today, we honor and remember George Floyd,” Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said in a statement. “Five years ago, his death marked a turning point in our nation and sparked a global movement. Minnesotans raised their voices, calling for justice and real, meaningful change to prevent a murder like this from ever happening again.”

Walz continued, “In Minnesota, we heeded that call for change. We've made key reforms to policing and public safety, including banning chokeholds and neck restraints, imposing a duty to intercede on officers who witness a colleague using excessive force, and banning warrior-style training.”

According to Walz, Minnesota is still mourning George Floyd and claims his legacy is a push to end racial disparities in public safety.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett got in on the action, too.

“George Floyd should be alive today,” she said in a post on X. “He should be raising his daughter, living his life. Five years later, we owe him more than thoughts and hashtags.”

She then called on Congress to pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act.

Naturally, the left conveniently ignores these inconvenient truths. They'd rather not discuss Floyd's significant fentanyl intoxication, or how their "defund the police" movement has led to skyrocketing crime rates, or even the fact that Floyd’s autopsy report says that he didn’t die of asyphixiation.

The numbers tell the real story. The summer of 2020 saw hundreds violent riots, resulting in thousands of looting incidents and hundreds of arson cases. In Minneapolis and St. Paul alone, roughly 1,500 properties suffered severe damage, with 80 completely destroyed. Insurance claims ranged from $1-2 billion.

But contrary to the left's claims of a "historic movement for justice," what we witnessed was nothing more than destructive performance art that abandoned the very communities they claimed to champion. Five years later, the damaged areas still haven't recovered, while the left continues worshipping their carefully constructed martyr myth -- complete with 700-pound statues -- while ignoring those truly victimized by their summer of "peaceful" destruction.
