Get your Festivus poles ready and warm up for the feats of strength — it’s time for the traditional Festivus airing of grievances! It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, and with 2024 wrapping up, I think it’s time to bring it back.
We’ve got a lot to look forward to when Trump takes office in January, but let’s not forget — it’s been a long year. And let me just say, I’ve got plenty of grievances to share, and some people are definitely going to hear about it!
The Mainstream Media
For years, they brushed off legitimate concerns about Joe Biden’s cognitive decline, dismissing them as baseless right-wing conspiracy theories. Then, after his disastrous debate performance against Donald Trump, they suddenly acted shocked, and then they expressed regret — but only after the election was over.
Pollsters
Once again, pollsters completely missed the mark. The overwhelming number of misleading polls this year made it seem like the election was a nail-biter, only for the results to show a much wider margin. How do they keep getting this wrong? Ann Selzer’s final Iowa poll really sticks out as a prime example of what’s wrong with polling.
House Republicans
A slim majority requires discipline and unity, but House Republicans just can’t seem to get their act together. The lack of cohesion has been a recurring problem with their public dysfunction embarrassing the entire caucus.
Joe Biden
Where to begin? While the list of grievances against Biden could stretch for miles, his recent pardoning spree has been particularly egregious. Letting his son Hunter off the hook (after publicly claiming he wouldn’t pardon him) was bad enough, but now he’s just pardoning vile criminals, including murderers and rapists, for no legitimate reason. It’s beyond the pale—even for him.
Kari Lake
Her Senate campaign was a disaster. This was an extremely winnable seat for Republicans, but Lake’s ego and poor candidacy handed it away. If she had sat this one out, a more electable Republican could have locked down the seat and bolstered the GOP majority in the Senate.
The Fox Network
I'm sorry, but I just still can't get over the fact that Fox canceled "Firefly" back in December 2002. I rewatch the series at least once a year, and it still stings that such a great show only lasted one season.
Judge Juan Merchan
It’s hard to imagine a more partisan judge. His refusal to dismiss the flimsy, politically motivated case against Donald Trump is his most recent example of judicial activism at its worst.
Alvin Bragg
Though Daniel Penny was thankfully found not guilty, Bragg’s decision to prosecute him in the first place was a travesty of justice. Bragg continues to exemplify everything wrong with politicized prosecution.
Caitlin Clark
Her talent on the basketball court is undeniable, but it’s a shame she tarnished her success by bowing to the radical left. Her public display of white guilt over her fame in the WNBA was as unnecessary as it was disappointing.
Mitch McConnell
It’s time. McConnell’s leadership has been faltering for a while now, and the party would be better off with fresh energy committed to making America great again. Just retire already.
Nancy Pelosi
Speaking of overstaying your welcome, it’s long past time for Pelosi to step aside, too. Her recent accident in Europe is clearly a sign she should enjoy her remaining years by not destroying the country.
