It's been more than a month since Joe Biden's State of the Union address, which the liberal media universally (and we're supposed to believe coincidentally) deemed "fiery" and energetic. It was obvious just how much Democrats were relying on Biden's performance to inject some life into his campaign, which has been dogged by his failed presidency and his advanced age and cognitive decline. As expected, Democrats quickly touted his performance as proof of his fitness for office, hoping it would put an end to his age and mental health being an issue in the 2024 election, which polls show is a real problem for him.
It was actually a rather stupid strategy. Eventually, they couldn't keep citing the State of the Union address — which he was likely drugged for — because they haven't been able to keep him locked up in his basement ever since. He's made public appearances since then. Even his public appearances immediately after the State of the Union speech were small gaffe-ridden disasters punctuated by the usual blankness and glitches that we've all gotten used to seeing from him.
And the Biden campaign knows that this is a problem. They still haven't committed to Biden participating in any presidential debates (I suspect he won't) and they're still running ads that make it make it painfully obvious that internal polling is still showing them that Biden's mental faculties are still a major problem that they need to overcome.
Which brings us to a new digital ad released by the Biden campaign called "Sharp."

"I've been a proud steelworker for 23 years," the Biden supporter named Jojo Burgess says in the ad. " And I know hard work when I see it. I love to tell the story about meeting President Biden because when you meet him, this guy's as sharp as a knife."
This part is a voiceover featuring footage of Biden on the campaign trail, probably because they didn't want anyone to see him blinking T-O-R-T-U-R-E on camera. The ad continues with the accusation that Biden's opponents "have nothing else to attack" than his age and mental sharpness.
Yeas, besides inflation, the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, the border crisis, his disastrous energy policies, his ineffectiveness on the world stage, his mismanagement of Covid, his mishandling of classified documents, his handli Israel-Hamas war, depleting the strategic petroleum reserves, the supply chain crisis, his vaccine mandates, his unconstitutional student debt forgiveness, surging crime, alienating Israel, kowtowing to Iran, the endless war in Ukraine that we're funding, amongst other things, we really have nothing else to attack, do we?
Biden's latest digital ad - being currently targeted at communities in PA - focused on jobs & appealing to blue collar workers.

Okay, but that's beside the point. Frankly, we can forget every silly thing this guy says after he says that Joe Biden is "as sharp as a knife," because that really is the point of the ad — it is titled "Sharp" after all. The message the ad attempts to get across more than anything else, is that this guy says he's seen Biden, and he thinks Biden is "sharp."
We're heard that word a lot from Joe Biden's surrogates and his defenders in the media — particularly in the wake of the release of the Hur report, which concluded that Biden "willfully retained and disclosed classified materials after his vice presidency when he was a private citizen" and that his actions "present[ed] serious risks to national security,” but charges wouldn't be brought against him because Biden "would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory." Thus, it would be "difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him [...] of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness.” Hur found that Biden's memory was "significantly limited, both during his recorded interviews with the ghostwriter in 2017 and in his interview with our office in 2023," and that he couldn’t remember the years he was vice president or when his son Beau died.
So, no, the State of Union wasn't enough to take Biden's cognitive decline off the table. They are still fighting hard to respond to this issue. Biden's X/Twitter accounts keep trying to flip the script and say that Trump is the old, slow, and tired one. It's obvious they know they can't lean on the State of the Union address anymore.
