Roger Moore passed away on Tuesday at the age of 89. The dapper British actor followed up on Sean Connery’s trailblazing Bond persona with class and tongue-in-cheek humor. It was a hard act to follow, but Moore did well, carrying the 007 franchise for seven movies.
Depending on whether you count Connery’s Never Say Never Again (1983), Moore holds the record for the most James Bond films, though Connery is widely considered the best Bond. Even so, Moore gave him a run for his money.
Here are 13 of the best Roger Moore James Bond scenes. Enjoy!
1. Live and Let Die (1973) boat chase.
Live and Let Die (1973) gets a bad rap for its racial elements, and for a 1970s flick taking place in New Orleans, that’s no surprise. But the film launched Moore’s stint as Bond, and he performed well, even if the film is rather off-color.
Here’s the iconic boat chase (complete with the bumbling racist white cop).
2. The Man With the Golden Gun (1974) dinner party scene.
The Man With the Golden Gun (1974) features a great villain in Francisco Scaramanga, played by Christopher Lee (Saruman in The Lord of the Rings trilogy). This movie also gets a bad rap, for portraying a dwarf or “little person” as a vile sidekick.
Here’s the dinner party scene with perfect tension between James Bond and Francisco Scaramanga.
“It still remains the only true test for gentlemen.” Bond replies, “I doubt if you qualify on that score.” Perfect.
3. The Man With the Golden Gun (1974) fun house duel.

4. The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) skiing fight scene.
The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) is considered Moore’s best bond film, and it has a great many iconic scenes. The movie opens with a fight scene — while Bond is skiing. Here’s that scene.
5. The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) car chase.
The Bond franchise is known for its car chases, and this 1977 film features a great one. Here’s the Lotus Esprit, a car with quite a few tricks up its sleeve.

6. The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) Jaws fights the shark.
After James Bond defeats the killer Jaws (Richard Kiel) and makes his escape, Bond’s nemesis faces a shark and lives to tell the tale. Here’s that scene.
7. Moonraker (1979) extreme skydiving.
Jaws makes another killer appearance in Moonraker (1979), and this scene between him and Bond is thrilling.
8. Moonraker (1979) gondola chase.
This Bond film featured a great deal of really clever scenes — another boat chase, a space battle, and a really cool centrifuge test. But one of the most creative featured Roger Moore on an iconic gondola in Venice. Here it is.
9. Moonraker (1979) Bond wins Jaws over.
One of the coolest scenes in Moonraker (1979) is the final showdown between James Bond and Hugo Drax (Michael Lonsdale). Drax falls for the common Bond villain monologue, and Bond cleverly uses it against him, convincing Jaws to switch sides at the last moment.
10. For Your Eyes Only (1981) monastery fight scene.
For Your Eyes Only (1981) ranks highly among the Moore Bond films, and it had some great moments. Here is the fight scene in the monastery at the end. That poor stained glass!
11. Octopussy (1983) car versus train.
Octopussy (1983) is considered formulaic, but the fight scenes are electrifying. This fight sequence where Bond uses a car to catch up to a train is particularly memorable.
12. Octopussy (1983) buzz saw fight scene.
James Bond fights a guy with a buzz saw, and keeps the girl safe.
13. A View to a Kill (1985) final fight.
Moore’s last Bond film went out with a bang — the final battle with Max Zorin (Christopher Walken) takes place on the Golden Gate Bridge! Here’s that battle.
