A16-year-old boy recently robbed a 68-year-old woman of her purse and car outside the St. Demetrios Orthodox Church in Briarwood, Queens, after shoving her down the stairs, cracking her skull, and leaving her in critical condition this past Sunday.

Irene Tahliambouris was about to enter the church when the assailant, coming up from behind, intercepted her and shoved her down the stairs. As she lay there, he took her purse with her phone, wallet, and car keys, which he used to steal her car.

Daniel Coffaro Hill, Tahliambouris's nephew, posted about the incident on X, asking for help and contributions to a GoFundMe to help cover the woman's medical expenses.

Once the kid was caught, Hill railed against NYC's soft-on-crime policies, saying, "This thug is another example of how petty criminals feel bold enough to escalate their crimes, knowing they’ll likely get off with a slap on the wrist. Despite this, there seems to be a lack of urgency from both Albany and NYC to implement the necessary legal reforms to ensure these individuals are held accountable."

On Friday, the kid, whose name has since been revealed as Jayvaun Prince, attempted to commit suicide in his cell by strangling himself with his shirt and was hospitalized. He was not seriously injured.

This was not the first time Prince robbed an old woman and stole her car, as he is being charged with a similar crime that occurred just a few days before the attack on Irene Tahliambouros.

According to X account End Wokeness, this was on top of nine previous arrests, two of which were for assault.

He certainly lives up to his last name if that is indeed true.

Still, the fact that this kid is 16 years old and has already been arrested nine alleged times just speaks volumes about how soft-on-crime laws are emboldening criminals, especially minors.

Back in August out in Las Vegas, we had 18-year-old Jesus Ayala and 16-year-old Jzamir Keys intentionally run over and kill retired police officer Andreas Probst while he was on his bike. This was after stealing a car, livestreaming the whole thing, and laughing as they did so.

They believed they would get off easy as minors, openly boasting about this to the cops who arrested them. While in court they were utterly callous in their conduct, laughing and and even flipping the bird at Probst's family throughout proceedings.

Taylor Probst, the daughter of Andreas, said, "It shows that they really have no remorse, that this is just a game to them. Like they don’t, they really don’t care if anyone else lives or dies. They don’t care about themselves if they live or die."

I have said before (not on PJ Media) that the fear of God needs to be beaten back into society, but that will be a long and arduous undertaking. In other words, it will take time to change a culture that is breeding nihilistic young men who can be career criminals before they're out of high school.

Until then, hopefully, this latest incident will finally convince more people in New York City that treating criminals with kid gloves is a bad idea.
