Another Obama Promise Meets Expiration Date

On May 18, 2008, then-presidential candidate Barack Obama told a Billings, Montana audience:

“This is part of the whole theory of George Bush that he can make laws as he’s going along. I disagree with that. I taught the Constitution for 10 years. I believe in the Constitution and I will obey the Constitution of the United States.”

Well, it probably sounded good at the time, to the rubes in the media and the bitter clingers in Montana. But as Megyn Kelly noted last night on Fox, at least one GOP congressman is introducing legislation designed to hold the president accountable to himself and the Constitution:

Republican Congressman Ron DeSantis (R-FL) introduced legislation challenging the president’s ObamaCare “fix.” President Obama first delayed the employer mandate. Then, after private insurance companies began canceling millions of Americans plans after the president promised they wouldn’t, he asked the companies to give people back their plans.

DeSantis’ legislation will likely die in Harry Reid’s Senate before it ever makes it to Barry’s desk, but at least it would put blue Congressmen on the record as to where they stand on Obama unilaterally making up laws on the fly, and at the least, the above clip is a reminder that all of Barack Obama’s promises come with expiration dates — every single one.

Considering that Mr. Obama famously told a Chicago Sun-Times interviewer in 2004 that he defines sin as “Being out of alignment with my values,”  I’m sure he’ll thank Rep. DeSantis for his efforts aimed at churchin’ him up, and getting back on the straight and narrow. Any day now…
