“The now-naked collusion between the Obama White House and MSNBC sets a dangerous precedent for an otherwise free press and republic,” an editorial at Investor’s Business Daily notes:
The president has rewarded his campaign loyalists from MSNBC with an off-schedule West Wing meeting, where he’s given them new talking points to win the next battle over taxes.
Yes, this state-press collusion is happening in your capital, not just Caracas or Havana.
The lovefest between Obama and MSNBC toadies Lawrence O’Donnell, Rachel Maddow, Ed Schultz and Al Sharpton actually took place on Dec. 4.
A White House spokesperson confirmed the president met with them and other “influential progressives” to discuss the “importance of extending the Bush middle-class tax cut” — not to mention mau-mauing Republicans against “tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires.”
What makes them qualified to cover the high-stakes “fiscal cliff” negotiations? O’Donnell’s claim to fame is writing fictional tales of the “West Wing” for TV. Maddow is a lesbian activist. Schultz is a sports broadcaster by trade.
And Sharpton is a Baptist minister with his own tax problems (he recently owed the IRS almost $1 million).
But what they lack in journalistic credentials they make up for in far-left ideology — which makes them eminently valuable to this president, who governs through economic envy and agitation.
O’Donnell is such a hard-core Marxist, he doesn’t like to even be perfumed as a “progressive.” “I am not a liberal who is so afraid of the word that I had to change my name to ‘progressive.’ Liberals amuse me. I am a socialist,” O’Donnell flatly stated in 2010, adding that capitalism is “truly lethal cruelty.” He further stressed: “I live to the extreme left of liberals.”
The same can be said for his fellow travelers at MSNBC.
IBD’s editorial is titled “MSNBC Is President Obama’s Pravda.” Right idea, but perhaps wrong communist news agency considering (a) the modern Pravada is more honest about Obama’s election than many of our own news sources, and this recent moment featuring MSNBC’s boss at GE: “Immelt, of GE and Obama Jobs Council fame: Communist Chinese ‘government works.'” (Warning: possible auto-play video of Immelt and Charlie Rose.)
Maybe IBD should have titled their editorial, “MSNBC Is President Obama’s Xinhua.”
Oh, and speaking of the GE/Universal owned network: “MSNBC’s Finney: GOP ‘sending a message that says it’s OK to beat up certain kinds of women.’”
Hey, when it comes to misogyny, MSNBC is certainly an expert on the topic.
