Freed Egyptian-American Prisoner All Smiles as She Meets with Trump

Aya Hijazi was all smiles as she met with President Trump in the White House Friday.

The Egyptian-American charity worker returned to the United States late Thursday after a three-year stint in a Cairo prison. The Trump administration successfully negotiated with the Egyptian government to secure her release, as well as the release of her husband, Mohamed Hassanein, who is Egyptian, and four other humanitarian workers.

“Wonderful job!” she exclaimed after shaking the president’s hand.

“We are very happy to have Aya back home, and it’s a great honor to have her in the Oval Office,” Trump said while sitting next to 30-year-old Hijazi.
