“This is the 139th Easter Egg Roll. Think of it!” said President Trump. “It began a long time ago — 1878!”

Never one to miss an opportunity to boast a little, the president continued, “We will be stronger and bigger and better as a nation than ever before. We are right on track. You see what’s happening and we are right on track.”

He thanked First Lady Melania Trump: “She’s really worked hard on this,” the president said. “She’s been working on this a long time to make it perfect and we wanted to keep it just right…”

“This is the first time my husband and I hosting this wonderful tradition,” the First Lady said. “It’s great that you are all with us, today. I hope you have a great time with many activities,” she added before thanking the military band, staff and volunteers who helped make the event possible.”

Melania thanked the military — those who were with them at the White House today, and those serving all around the world — “who are keeping us safe.”

“As we renew this tradition, thank you for joining us. On behalf of the President and Barron, we wish you great fun and beautiful days coming ahead of us, and happy Easter!” she said.
