Madonna is slipping.
In her prime, the Material Girl would have flashed her breasts first in order to make a political statement.
This election cycle, Katy Perry beat her to it, courtesy of the latest unfunny Funny or Die video clip. The video found Perry going au naturel (not that we could actually see anything) to remind people to vote.
Not to be 100 percent outdone, Madonna lost her top in time to snap an Instagram pic supporting Hillary Clinton.
“Living for Hillary. Yes I vote for intelligence. I vote for equal rights for women and all minorities.”

Game changer, right?
To be fair, the phrase “she’s the best we got” hardly sounds like soaring praise.
Either way, it’s the latest in a series of social media poses Madonna has tried in recent years. Remember when she showed her armpit hair for all the world to see? Edgy! Suffice to say it didn’t cause a sea change in women’s hygiene.
Madonna typically dabbles in cultural politics over ideological matters. She’s not immune to the latter, though.
Last year, she attempted to bring world peace to a beleaguered planet. Instead, she sort of blamed the West for modern terrorism.
Her attempts at political campaigning have proven equally dubious. In 2012 she praised Obama during a concert. It didn’t exactly go well.
The Material Girl asked during Saturday night’s performance, ‘Who’s registered to vote?’ adding: ‘I don’t care who you vote for as long as you vote for Obama.’
Boos and walkouts followed.
That was an improvement over a previous concert. At that gig, she called Obama a “black Muslim” in a profanity-filled rant.
‘So y’all better vote for f***ing Obama, okay? For better or for worse, all right? We have a black Muslim in the White House, okay? Now that is some s***. That’s some amazing sh***,’ she said.
At least she kept her clothes on. Then again, both Madonna and Perry are hardly naked in the traditional sense. Perry is probably all too aware of her image, and going genuinely nude might lose her some younger fans (or anger their parents).
Madonna’s selfie shows less than you might see at a very modest beach.
Maybe, in her own way, the edgiest thing for Madonna to do is to keep her clothes on … or offer something coherent to the political debate.
