Exactly one year ago today, on Sept. 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk answered a question about transgender-identifying mass shooters at a packed Utah Valley University event. Immediately afterward, a single shot rang out, and Charlie Kirk slumped to the ground with blood gushing from his neck. LGBTQ leftist radical Tyler Robinson assassinated one of the most popular conservative leaders in America, a man of deep faith, boundless charity, and high integrity. That day, the world changed.

Ever since the end of the Civil War, which began because Democrats wanted to protect slavery and which closed with a Confederate sympathizer assassinating the first Republican president, Republicans have been trying to ignore the fact that Democrat leadership hates everything that America’s Founding stood for and wants to destroy this country and remake it in their image.
The attempted assassinations of Donald Trump and the leftist reaction were very revealing, but Trump survived, and he made a political comeback. Charlie Kirk did not survive, and that is partly why the leftist reaction was so unhinged. They understood that Tyler Robinson eliminated a man whom so many people saw as the next great leader of the conservative movement in America, the next charismatic man who would lead patriots of all ages to significant cultural and political victories.
It is a horrible and irreparable tragedy that we lost Charlie Kirk. Just as the assassination of Abraham Lincoln and the succession of his corrupt, racist, incompetent Vice President Andrew Johnson changed American history, so undoubtedly the loss of Charlie Kirk changed American history. That much is undeniable. But it is also true that Abraham Lincoln‘s martyrdom inspired many generations of civil rights warriors and patriots up through the present, and Charlie Kirk’s martyrdom should have the same effect.

Conservatives of the modern era are a little too apt to become complacent when they win a major election victory and forget that every single day, Democrats have a new effort to undermine our culture and take back political power. The Lindsay Clancy insanity shows right enough that the culture war is still of extreme importance. The mass election fraud network the Trump administration uncovered shows that we are in danger of losing the midterm election, even if Democrats are unpopular. Charlie would tell us that we cannot afford to slacken and lose sight of the goal. The battle for the soul of America continues.
As much progress as conservatives have made in recent years, as great as the 2024 election win was (and we can definitely thank Charlie for that one), every day we must take up the torch and fight, fight, fight.
The assassination of Charlie Kirk excited and galvanized the radical left. They gave up all pretense and showed their true colors. Did Charlie’s assassination inspire conservatives with as much fervor for saving America as it inspired leftists with fervor for destroying America? That is the question each and every one of us has to ask himself today.
