American leftist media is always looking for any excuse to make America look bad, and they especially want to frame President Donald Trump as a perpetual failure. So, for instance, Politico put out a piece this month that was practically a propaganda sales ad for Chinese “green energy” amid the Iran conflict. A few days afterward, Chinese state media bragged about how much oil it was producing.
“The Trump administration’s war of choice against Iran has boosted China’s sales of electric vehicles, solar panels and batteries to countries facing volatile oil markets and fuel shortages, recent trade data shows,” Politico pontificated ahead of Trump’s China visit. “Energy analysts agree that while the war is spurring costs [sic] increases and driving some countries to double down on fossil fuels, it is also reinforcing the strategic role renewables can play in energy security.”
Anyone who knows anything about “green” energy will laugh at the idea that it enhances energy security, since solar panels and wind turbines are far more likely to undermine grids due to their unreliability and susceptibility to extreme weather. But I digress.
One of the constant drumbeats from Western mainstream media is how amazing China’s "green transition" is, even though China keeps building more coal plants and shipping oil. What the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) actually means when it talks about how important "green" energy is, is that it wants the rest of the world to buy its toxic batteries and parts for electric vehicles, solar panels, and windmills, produced courtesy of child and slave labor in Africa and China and set to poison any land they sit on or in for years to come.

Politico's piece came out May 13. On May 25, less than two weeks later, the CCP state propaganda outlet Global Times proudly boasted about Sinopec, which, according to Investopedia, is the largest oil conglomerate in the world. It also happens that the CCP owns it. Global Times bragged:
A major shale oil base in Jiyang, East China's Shandong Province, which is operated by Sinopec, has achieved cumulative crude output exceeding 2 million tons, marking a breakthrough in safeguarding national energy security, China Media Group reported on Monday.
Covering 7,300 square kilometers, the base has accelerated production capacity expansion this year. In the first four months of this year, the zone put 10 high-production wells into operation, delivering shale oil output of 14,000 tons, a 15 percent year-on-year increase.
Please take special note of the phrase I highlighted. The CCP might assure gullible Westerners that "green" energy is vital to energy security, but the CCP knows perfectly well that oil is true energy security.
Politico and the shameless "experts" it cited, like former Bush administration official Jon B. Alterman, can gush all they want that the CCP is "'offering something very different from the United States'" and that is "a newfound power in mitigating energy challenges," but we know the truth. The CCP is actually too self-serving to rely on the "green" garbage it is selling the rest of the world. The only reason the CCP is encouraging Western useful idiots to tout Chinese "green" energy is in hopes that all the CCP's enemies will adopt grid-wrecking tech.
