Here is an ugly and uncomfortable truth: No cease-fire between Israel and Iran can be anything more than temporary. The death-worshipping, Jew-hating jihadis who run Iran (or what is left of them) see war as a form of worship, and they will never stop trying to destroy Israel and America.
Modern Westerners seem to have a vague idea that wars usually end when both sides decide enough of their people have died and they gather around a table to sign a compromise document. This idea has nothing whatsoever to do with history, in which the overwhelming majority of wars only ended with one side or the other’s victory. Furthermore, some wars actually cannot end any other way, because one side or the other will never stop fighting so long as a single person is left.

When genocidal imperial Japan said they would fight to the last man, they proved it on every island we took. It required the emperor to override the war council after two nuclear bombs to end a war that threatened to turn into irreparable slaughter on both sides. We must not make the mistake of being cultural imperialists who think that other cultures and governments have the same values and standards we do.

Islam’s “sacred” texts explicitly teach that Muslims are to kill non-Muslims, especially Jews, and commit rape, pedophilia, murder, and many other crimes. It is an inherently evil religion that promises eternal reward for terrorism. This is why Americans keep failing to win decisive victories against Muslim nations and entities, because we cannot seem to face up to the reality of what these people believe.
Ayatollah Khamenei, whom Donald Trump seemed bent on keeping alive even though Israel knew where he was, and even though the ayatollah has spent many years calling for “death to America” and the obliteration of Israel, is still in charge of Iran. He is a fanatical ideologue. He is never going to stop wanting to destroy the U.S. and Israel. His rhetoric has been exactly the same all of this past week as it always is. No matter how many of his people die, no matter how many of his generals are killed, no matter how many of his military facilities are damaged or destroyed, he is always going to have the same ideology. That is why he has already violated the ceasefire.
The Hamas-Israel crisis is an illustration of what I mean. Israel has spent decades trying to appease the Muslim Arabs who now call themselves Palestinians, giving them the Gaza Strip among other actions and offering them their own state, even though they were already given the arbitrarily created nation of Jordan. None of that made the so-called Palestinians happy, because they don’t want their own state; they want to destroy the only Jewish nation in the world. Fifty Muslim nations are not enough for them.

Because the Islamic regime in Iran has committed itself for four decades to battling America and Israel, through infiltrating America’s government, funding and supporting terrorist proxies [eg, Hamas, Hezbollah], and other insidious methods, there absolutely cannot be such a thing as a lasting peace. That is not our choice to make; it is their choice, and they are not going to make it.
How have we forgotten Qassem Soleimani killing Americans, or the ayatollah’s celebration of the October 7 atrocities, or Iran’s calls to assassinate Trump?
There are only two ways this war ends. Either Israel will be wiped off the map, or the Islamic regime destroying Iran will collapse, a consummation devoutly to be wished. There is no other option. And for the sake of the Iranian people calling for freedom, for the sake of all of the Israelis and Americans murdered by Iranian terrorists and their proxies over the years, we must face up to the reality of the existential evil that is the genocidal regime of Iran.
