If you were among the many terrorist proxies of the Islamic regime of Iran, now would seem like the appropriate time to panic. If powerful Iran is staggering under Israeli and U.S. attacks, the jihadi groups funded and backed by Iran must be growing severely worried right now. We can only hope the whole Middle East will change after this conflict.
Hamas, Hezbollah, Palestine Islamic Jihad, the Houthis, Al-Ashtar Brigadess—the list of Iranian terrorist proxies goes on. As the biggest state sponsor of terrorism in the world, the Islamic regime in Iran has been a serious threat to the world for decades, and has been particularly targeting Israelis and Americans. Since it also imposes harsh and often deadly domestic tyranny, only the jihadists would be sorry to see it fall. And if it does fall, those jihadists would definitely be the worse for it.
St. Thomas More, who is honored by Catholics on this day for defending his faith unto martyrdom, once said, “If the lion knew his own strength, hard were it for any man to rule him.” This quote struck me particularly today because of course Israel is associated repeatedly in the Bible (both Old and New Testament) with a lion, as for instance Genesis 49:9-10, “Juda is a lion's whelp: to the prey, my son, thou art gone up: resting thou hast couched as a lion, and as a lioness, who shall rouse him? The sceptre shall not be taken away from Juda, nor a ruler from his thigh, till he come that is to be sent.” Thus the nation of Israel named their attack on Iran “Operation Rising Lion.”
The Lion of Juda roared and the nuclear facilities of Iran went tumbling down. The precision of Israeli airstrikes and the staggering number of Iranian leaders assassinated by Israel within a few days shocked the world. For too long, Israel has tried to appease the Muslim radicals and Western leftists who demanded that Israel be a doormat for those who would destroy them. Israel finally hit back in force, and what a blow it was!

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said just after Israel’s first exceptional strikes on Iran, “For decades, the tyrants of Tehran have brazenly, openly called for Israel's destruction. They backed up their genocidal rhetoric with a program to develop nuclear weapons. In recent years, Iran has produced enough highly enriched uranium for nine atom bombs.… Last year, Iran fired 300 ballistic missiles at Israel.” Israel was tired of being the target of Iranian leaders’ genocidal mania: “Israel is responding to those genocidal calls with action and with a call of our own: Long live Israel and Long live America. Our action will help make the world a much safer place.”
Today, terrorists in Hamas and all the other jihadi groups backed by Iran ought to be terrified, and hopefully we will see the demise of these groups and the complete collapse of the Iranian regime in the near future. If Israel, with the help of the United States, can cut off the head of the jihad cobra, will the entire snake die? Muslims will be committing terrorism as long as the Islamic religion exists, because that is what their religion’s sacred texts teach, but for too long Islamic terrorist groups have been running rampant in many countries unchecked and supported by Iran.
The sound of Israeli and American missiles is the rumbling of historic change. And if, miraculously, Israel can bring down the Iranian regime, the whole world will be all the better for it.
