Advice From Alexander Hamilton for the Trump Administration

Don’t trust Greeks bearing gifts, or, as Alexander Hamilton would put it, don’t trust agents bearing foreign influence.

Today (Jan. 11) is the anniversary of the 18th-century birth of one of the greatest Founding Fathers, the soldier, war hero, writer, thinker, Constitution signer, first treasury secretary, husband, and father Alexander Hamilton. From his taking up arms for the Revolution in his early youth to his untimely demise, Hamilton always served his country with genius, energy, courage, and integrity. And one of the dangers he strongly warned his fellow Americans about was foreign influence.

Indeed, the Trump administration should investigate congressmen, federal officials, agencies, and government-funded schools and colleges that have ties to China and other foreign powers. The danger is too great to ignore.

Hamilton warned in a 1793 issue of his “Pacificus” debates against a spirit that is “anti-national”. Referring to the famed fall of ancient Troy through a ploy of the treacherous, dishonest Greeks, Hamilton cautioned, “Foreign influence is truly the Grecian Horse to a republic. We cannot be too careful to exclude its entrance. Nor ought we to imagine, that it can only make its approaches in the gross form of direct bribery. It is then most dangerous, when it comes under the patronage of our passions, under the auspices of national prejudice and partiality.”

I recently wrote about foreign influence in American universities, including pro-Hamas agitation funded by the terror-sponsoring Iranian regime and tied to U.S.-hating Communist China. The federal government really shouldn’t be involved in universities at all, but, at the very least, the incoming Trump administration needs to cut off taxpayer funding to universities with ties to foreign governments and pro-jihad student groups. Grade schools across America have also come under insidious Chinese Communist influence.

RecommendedDemocrat Elites Are the Worst Sort of Snobs

American youth are being brainwashed courtesy of the same foreign influencers who are also bribing our congressmen and other politicians. Foreign agents, especially Chinese lobbyists, lavishly fund politicians from both parties. Joe Biden’s son with his lucrative ties to Chinese, Ukrainian, and Kazakhstani oligarchs and Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) with his infamous Chinese spy girlfriend are two of many. State and federal officials took paid-for trips to China while in office and former congressmen became lobbyists for China. Biden State Department employees have ties to Iran.

Then there are the businesses with foreign ties, including the Big Tech companies who silence speech at the behest of the European Union, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and more. Most disturbing of all are the companies — including Apple, Tesla, L.L.Bean, and Nike — that prioritize cheap Chinese labor over standing against the genocide, religious/political persecution, censorship, and other crimes so institutionalized in China.

CCP law requires all foreign companies in China to host CCP cells and to facilitate Party activities. No American business should be in Communist China, period. And anyone who does has compromised his morals and complied with invasive rules from America’s number one enemy. It is worthwhile for the Trump administration to investigate how deeply all these companies are tied to the CCP and its insidious global influence network. The CCP told its people it was in a war phase with the U.S.; partnering with the CCP is in fact traitorous.

There are, of course, many other examples I could cite, including the NGOs and government agencies who use taxpayer money to bring in who knows how many illegal alien criminals and terrorists. The point is that foreign influence is more dangerous now than ever, and even threatens America’s survival, as governments including China and Iran vow to destroy the U.S.

Even too many conservatives now are content to forego accountability for traitors and foreign puppets because of their age, their status, or their titles (“president”, “representative,” etc.). That is not only foolish; it is suicidal. America made the mistake of not adequately excluding violent traitors from U.S. institutions once, and we are reaping the disastrous results of that 19th-century decision to this day. We cannot afford to ignore Hamilton’s wise advice and do so a second time.
