The Republican-majority House and the Senate just passed a catastrophic spending bill with all kinds of Democrat pork. Just after the GOP gave that gift to the Biden administration, the Biden Department of Justice (DOJ) announced another gun-grabbing operation.
There’s nothing the Biden administration loves more than funding the destruction of America with taxpayer dollars and violating those same taxpayers’ sacred Constitutional rights. Republicans joined Democrats to pass a horrific spending bill to fund abortion, LGBTQ, the FBI, and the CIA — and not more restrictions on illegal border crossings. Now the triumphant Biden administration has announced a new program, which allegedly promotes safety but is actually a new ploy to undermine the Second Amendment. The DOJ just perfectly illustrated why the Republicans should not have caved on the spending package.

The priority for many House and Senate Republicans was averting a government shutdown, which actually wouldn’t shut down the whole government — and which a majority of voters (56%) supported doing. U.S. federal spending is not sustainable. Why is the priority never the rights and pocketbooks of American citizens? Why is the Biden administration rewarded with more funding for their damaging projects and agencies, while Americans are inevitably punished?
On March 23, the same day the Senate passed the bloated spending package, Biden’s DOJ proudly issued a press release on the National Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) Resource Center (the Center). Attorney General Merrick B. Garland claimed, “The launch of the National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center will provide our partners across the country with valuable resources to keep firearms out of the hands of individuals who pose a threat to themselves or others.”
Note the wording. All the government has to do is claim that white Christian nationalists or traditional Catholics or MAGA Republicans fall into this category (which it actually already has), and it will declare those people unable to own guns, because of the “threat” to others. The Blaze pointed out that the Center will allow government seizure of firearms from allegedly “dangerous” individuals. The outlet quoted multiple conservatives and libertarians furious at the DOJ’s move, including Blaze’s investigative reporter Steve Baker, who commented, “The long march through our institutions is complete and the neo-Marxist assault on the Bill of Rights is now fully out of the closet. We see the enemy, '…both foreign and DOMESTIC.'”
Garland, however, added in his statement: “The establishment of the Center is the latest example of the Justice Department’s work to use every tool provided by the landmark Bipartisan Safer Communities Act to protect communities from gun violence.” For a leftist hack, that always means pushing the limits of the Second Amendment and the right to keep and bear arms.
In fact, the Biden administration has been trying to come up with creative ways to restrict gun ownership and gun buying ever since Joe took office, such as revoking hundreds of firearm dealers’ licenses. This new DOJ project isn’t exactly unprecedented. My point is that the Biden administration has a lousy record when it comes to constitutional rights, yet Congress keeps funding what the administration wants.
I’m not the only person worried about the new DOJ center. Article III Project founder and president Mike Davis noted the timing of the launch: “Biden…waited until Saturday AM after Congress funds government to announce a federal gun-grab operation.” Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) also highlighted the same-day timing in calling out the new anti-Second Amendment red flag ERPO Center.
The organization Texas Gun Rights posted on Twitter/X, “If the DOJ was weaponized to go after MAGA Granny, you’re crazy to think that it’s new ERPO center won’t go after this” with a picture of a father teaching his son to shoot.
Conservatives love to challenge would-be tyrants, “Come and get them.” Unfortunately, it’s a challenge the Biden administration seems determined to accept.
