Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst’s campaign has launched its first TV ad of the 2014 contest. The ad showcases Dewhurst explaining Texas’ record of cutting taxes and creating jobs in a downhome setting. He also calls on President Obama and Congress to take a look at how Texas has built its economy over the past 10 years — years during which Dewhurst has held Texas’ lieutenant governorship and Republicans have led the entire state government.
Take a look.
Dewhurst is locked in a four-way battle for the office on the Republican side. Democrat state Sen. Leticia Van De Putte has also announced her run on the Democratic side, but no Democrat has won any statewide office in Texas in a generation. The winner of the GOP primary is very likely to go on to win the general election. Polls currently show Dewhurst leading the pack by double digits.
PJTV interviewed the lieutenant governor a few months back.
The primary is set for March 4, 2014.
