The generous and perennially abused American people, with the duly elected government as their proxy, magnanimously granted Haitian migrants Temporary — emphasis on “temporary” here, which, as a word with a fixed definition, means something — Protective Status (TPS) following an earthquake on their home island in 2010.
That’s right; the Haitians on the TPS regime have been successfully squatting in America “temporarily” for 16 years now.

Anyway, 16 years later, the clock may have finally run out on those 350,000 or so — that figure only includes the ones on the books, not the many more illegal ones that the Biden administration let in, unaccounted for — TPS beneficiaries.

A federal judge on Wednesday took the final step in allowing the Trump administration to terminate temporary protected status for 350,000 Haitians, meaning many are likely to lose their jobs and be at risk of deportation back to a country the United States says remains dangerous.
U.S. District Judge Ana C. Reyes of the District of Columbia had enjoined the administration in February from ending TPS for Haitians, and a federal appeals court had refused to lift the ban. Reyes reversed her decision after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in June that federal law bars judicial review of TPS determinations.
The high court’s ruling means TPS “is no longer in effect,” Reyes wrote in her new order Wednesday. However, the judge said she would allow attorneys to continue seeking discovery and litigating their underlying claims that the Trump administration terminated TPS because of their clients’ race…
“The way this group has been specifically targeted is symbolic of the administration’s efforts to criminalize immigrants of color,” Kersh said. “In targeting people who had TPS, they are targeting people who followed the law.”

Anyway, according to operators of senior in-home care companies, removing illegal Haitian squatters means grandma won’t have a caregiver anymore.

The paramount reason these people love their Haitian workhorses, of course, has nothing to do with their concern for their elderly patients’ welfare or the “family” bonds their clients have forged with said Haitians; what they treasure above all about their Haitian pets is that they get to pay them subpar wages and thereby increase their profitability.
If making a quick buck means replacing their entire workforce with migrants and nixing what could otherwise be a decent-paying job from an actual American, that’s just the cost of doing business.
Multiply that times a few million, and you’ve got the macro fruits of neoliberalism.
And if anyone complains, or the government ever enforces immigration law, the beneficiaries of that suicidal economic policy will go on cable news and essentially call everyone racist.
