The latest hackings, stabbings, and loppings of the waste, fraud, and abuse that plagues the sprawling federal bureaucracy.

'Medicaid millionaire' busted buying Lamborghini while receiving Medicaid benefits

Via Fox News (emphasis added):

A Louisiana woman who purchased a Lamborghini while fraudulently obtaining Medicaid benefits is facing a fraud charge, authorities said this week.

Candace Taylor, 35, of Slidell, dubbed the "Medicaid millionaire" by the office of Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill, was arrested Monday. The state Bureau of Investigation began looking into Taylor after receiving a complaint from the Louisiana Health Department saying she underreported her income to qualify for Medicaid benefits.

"From 2021 through 2024, Ms. Taylor continued to transfer tens of thousands of dollars between her personal and business accounts, with personal inflows consistently exceeding the eligibility thresholds for Medicaid," the affidavit directly states.

By some estimates, staggering-in-scale Medicaid fraud costs American taxpayers between $80-100 billion annually.

EBT poors upset that RFK Jr. is forcing them to eat healthy food

Government benefits, by definition, always come with conditions.

The Department of Defense can’t spend congressionally-approved funds on hookers. I’m sure it happens all the time, but it’s illegal and should be prosecuted.

The Department of Education doesn’t — or at least isn’t supposed to (again, I’m sure it happens) — give grants to schools that discriminate based on race.

Likewise, you can’t buy liquor with food stamps. And, now, you can’t use them to procure Dr. Pepper or popsicles either, which upset this EBT beneficiary enough to make a TikTok complaining about it.

I am so dumbfounded right now. There are people who genuinely think that people who use EBTs don’t deserve sodas, candy, or desserts. You’re gonna tell me that my daughter doesn’t deserve a popsicle? You’re gonna tell me that I don’t deserve to get brownies? You’re gonna tell me I can’t have a fucking Dr. Pepper with my dinner? And all I’m hearing is ‘be grateful’… Get off of your throne of entitlement and take a look around you guys. Everyone is one bad day away from being homeless or even needing government assistance. Do you guys not see how that makes you look? Your lack of empathy and understanding is outstandingly atrocious.

Of course, the invocation of “entitlement” to describe her detractors is particularly ironic, as she is, in fact, the one receiving entitlements from the taxpayers.

Via Britannica (emphasis added):

Entitlement, generally, any government-provided or government-managed benefit or service to which some or all individuals are entitled by law…

Among government-provided or government-managed entitlements in the United States, some have been means-tested (Medicaid, Aid to Families with Dependent Children [AFDC], and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps).

Lady, no one is saying your daughter “doesn’t deserve a popsicle” or anything else. What the government is saying, which RFK Jr. explicitly promised when he was campaigning with Trump, is that the state will no longer subsidize processed corporate slop disguised as food, particularly given the fact that EBT recipients are almost certainly also receiving Medicaid, meaning the state also subsidizes the medical care that results from feeding your kids this crap.
